Talk:King Edward VII School, Johannesburg

Untitled

edit

There seem to be quite a few King Edward VII Schools and I think we need to create a new 'King Edward VII School (disambiguation) page as it's now very difficult to navigate to some of these other schools. I thought it might be best to rename this page King Edward VII School (Johannesburg). Does anyone have any objections? Dahliarose 23:04, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

What constitutes a notable alumni?

edit

I've been doing quite a bit of work on the Parktown Boys' wikipedia page and looked at the KES page too. There is a long list of people I've never heard of, especially sports people. I don't think that every random who gets South African colours should be on a school's page. Firstly it is redundant because every other school also has millions of these names. Secondly, for an article it makes no sense as schools constantly get new national sports people, and who updates these things every year? There were also a number of people who did not actually Matriculate at KES who were included on the list, which I think is cheating.

My own opinion:

Politics - MPs and above Law - Concourt, SCA judges Arts - difficult, but preferably household names in SA. Sports - significant people who have played most probably in cricket, rugby or soccer for the national side (not the u21 side) or who have achieved worldwide renown for their sport Business - again household names. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Simpythegimpy (talkcontribs) 19:06, 25 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:KESlogo.gif

edit

Image:KESlogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

History of school involvement in WW1 and WW2

edit

It's strange that there is no record of the school / pupils involvement in WW1 and WW2? Should be added. Farawayman (talk) 00:02, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
