The result of the move request was: Move. Consensus is that the proposed title better reflects the usual conventions on spaces. Cúchullain t/c 13:58, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- L.N.Gumilyov shall be written with a space between name and surname, as it originally written in Russian. Google search results also give more results with L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.— Preceding unsigned comment added by ChelseaFunNumberOne (talk • contribs) 09:27, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Move to L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University per our usual spacing conventions. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:18, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- This proposal is irrelevant as per Russian and Kazakh grammar rules, official languages of the University. Here is additional links to social network accounts that support initial version: Twitter and Facebook.--ChelseaFunNumberOne (talk) 18:51, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- And that is irrelevant, given this is English Wikipedia, not Russian or Kazakh Wikipedia! See WP:INITIALS. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:46, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
- Agree with native English names, but this is inappropriate for Russian name. In English initials are used for name and middle name, while in Russian for name and father name. Gramatically, name and father name must be written together. Kazakh language follow the same rule.--ChelseaFunNumberOne (talk) 16:04, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, but that really makes no sense. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:04, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- I think they mean that their opinions of how English should work should take precedence over everything else. (;-> It's quite a common belief. Andrewa (talk) 00:11, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Discussion
editThe appeals above to formatting conventions for Russian and Kazakh names may be relevant to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people). I have now raised it there.
But I've also added it to Wikipedia:Correct#Examples as it seems a good example of how not to argue an RM, however discussion goes at the guideline talk page. Whether the preferred style for personal names is even relevant to this particular RM is another issue entirely. It seems peripheral to me in terms of our article naming policy.
Other thoughts? Andrewa (talk) 06:54, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
