This definition doesn't seem very flexible. A label on an edge or node can only be a single character?

The set $\Sigma _{V}$ can be any set of labels - the set could include all integers, all strings over an alphabet of your choosing, and so on. So there's not really an issue there. Dcoetzee 00:35, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
