Solution to edit wars on which cities are in Europe and which are not
editJust use this map. Makes everything easier. That map should be used in all Europe/Asia border clash type of articles actually. Youprayteas (t • c) 11:58, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
- I hope you are not serious here... I can find a map proving anything regarding Euroasian border. When I feel like Istanbul is in Asia a can just use this one. --Pan Někdo (talk) 10:11, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
- Lol whole of Russia is in Europe?? At least Turkey is doable but still to end this war let's just use one continent called Eurasia. Fights over; Turkey is in Eurasia and Russia is in Eurasia. RickyBlair668 (talk) 07:21, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
- What I meant was that Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia should be included in all Europe and Asia matters Youprayteas talk/contribs 14:36, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
- But that's absurd: should we recognise Vladivostok as European? Or Kaliningrad as Asian? Obviously not... --Pan Někdo (talk) 14:54, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Well Vladivostok is mostly populated by Slavs. 2001:8000:1027:6600:64D4:5DDF:83B7:8735 (talk) 04:43, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

London
editIt has come to my attention that this list is fairy skewed. Paris is much larger than stated for example, but the figure given is for the city proper.
It seems to be lost however that London can also be calculated comparatively. London city proper was changed in 1889 from the city of London to the county of London. This area is now known as inner London and has a population of 3,404,300 (see the Wikipedia page on Inner London). It is this value that should appear on this list, not the Greater London figure of 8.7 million nor the urban area figure of nine-point-something million. TMcB23 (talk) 23:24, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
how is that that is instambul biggest europian citty when turkey is not european countire? 109.43.114.120 (talk) 10:33, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
BAKU???
editOkay. So this is literally double standards. If Tblisi and Yerevan are included, then Baku should be too. If Baku is not to be included, then the other 2 should be removed. I. understand all the discussion behind this but at this current state Baku should be included or all caucasusian cities should be removed. Youprayteas talk/contribs 18:30, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- An IP removed Baku in May 2023 and nobody restored it since then. I will return it to the table. FromCzech (talk) 18:55, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
Where is Athens?
edit... 2A02:587:8737:1400:E124:E699:280A:754A (talk) 10:28, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
- As the Athens page says, the population is 643,452. FromCzech (talk) 11:03, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
Regarding the numbers for Istanbul
editOkay, I've made this exact change years ago, and someone recently undid the same thing by doing their own math and changing the header so that they could promote the numbers of Moscow to 1st place. This page uses official numbers, and you cannot just do your own math by arbitrarily excluding districts of Istanbul. We can only look at official figures and, it is 15 million and change. Not 10 million. Any uninformed person who would check this page and would automatically assume that Istanbul has 10 million people in it, which is not true. Istanbul is just one city with one official population.
