Gustavus
editCan someone find a source saying he originally committed to Gustavus? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.250.150.112 (talk) 04:43, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Eagles
editCan anyone verify that the Eagles signed/traded for Fitzgerald. No source has stated this, there have only been rumors. --71.236.76.120 (talk) 18:59, 9 March that Fitzgerald only had 8 touchdowns in his first year and Randy Moss had 17 touchdowns —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cgconle (talk • contribs) 18:54, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Can anybody verify the accuracy of this:
"He left college early and was drafted 3rd overall in the 2004 NFL entry draft, by the Arizona Cardinals."
It originally said 11th rather than 3rd.
- Wikipedia's article on the 2004 NFL draft lists him as 3rd, and http://football.about.com/cs/playerprofiles/p/larryfitzgerald.htm says he "[had] just two years of college under his belt" before the draft. 207.172.155.74 17:50, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
- They just mentioned him on ESPN2 - he was drafted 3rd. Also, he only had two years of college because he had one year of prep school. The NFL requires that you be out of high school for three years before being eligible for the draft. They counted his one year of prep as one of his three required years. Off the Field Issues
editNo mention of the fact that he had a son with his long time girlfriend and denied strongly that he was the father, going so far as to have his father say to the Minneapolis Star Tribune that he wasn't the father? Or that an order of protection was filed against him by his child's mother after he allegedly grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground? Is the article protected so that people can't add these facts, or what? Being good at sports should not buy you immunity from having the truth about you told. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.81.13.145 (talk) 19:14, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
I wrote a section about this, will sourced information from a major metropolitan newspaper. This information can be found on many news sites and is widely discussed and disseminated and yet it continues to get removed from the article without an explanation. If you'd like to discuss why you think it should be removed, post something. Don't just remove verifiable, sourced information because you like the guy as a football player. Pandabullets (talk) 14:29, 27 January 2009 (UTC) Loves Pie. The gossip columnist that "reported" the information Pandabullets speaks of, "C.J.", is known in the media to be highly unreliable and barely more trustworthy than a tabloid writer. Her columns are used in the ASU Cronkite School of Journalism curriculum as exhibits of shady, unreliable, sensationalist, and otherwise poor journalism in major media outlets. Until a RELIABLE source can be used, i.e. public court records, it should be left off the article altogether. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.3.119.155 (talk) 19:15, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Once again, until an reliable and noteworthy source, NOT A GOSSIP COLUMNIST, shows that there was a paternity test and/or a domestic violence complaint, please do not put this into the article. This is Wikipedia, not Gossipedia.68.3.119.155 (talk) 00:01, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- Agree that the Star Tribune links were worthless gossip. Enigmamsg 01:18, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Put it back in with sources from NY Times and USA Today; also tried to make it sound more alleged and NPOV. Jomasecu talk contribs 00:45, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- C.J. regularly speaks to Fitzgerald Sr. and in one case she spoke to Nazario's mother. Nowhere has any party involved disputed anything that she put in any of her articles that I linked to. Aside from that, the fact is that the people deleting the information know that it is true, they are using the source as a pretense for deleting factual information about an athlete whose image they apparently can't handle see tarnished, even if by his own actions.Pandabullets (talk) 18:32, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

High school information is incorrect
editin the Professional Career Section it incorrectly states
"Although Fitzgerald had played at Pitt for only two years without redshirting, he petitioned the NFL to allow him to enter the 2004 NFL Draft, as he had left high school during his senior year to attend Holy Angels Academy. The NFL granted an exception to allow Fitzgerald to enter the draft, as Fitzgerald had convinced the NFL that the time he spent at the Academy, combined with his time at Pitt, was the minimum three years removed from high school to make him eligible for the draft. Although former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett was suing the NFL at the time to overturn the rule (a case Clarett ultimately won, but was later overturned on appeal), the NFL considered Fitzgerald's case separate from Clarett's.[5]"
In fact Larry left Holy Angels Academy to attend Valley Forge Military Academy. Here are some sources.

Consecutive games with a reception
editI noticed under the NFL records section, the consecutive games with a reception is pretty dated. Fitzgerald recently passed Tony Gonzalez for second-longest streak and his number is up to 213, per Pro Football Reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ttauscher (talk • contribs) 20:31, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Broadcast career ? ? ?
editWhy no mention of his broadcast career that began after his 2920 season ? 2600:8800:204:C400:3D69:366E:6EA6:C6B3 (talk) 21:11, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
Retirement
editI’ve been scavenging for a video or an article on Larry’s retirement, nothings showing up. Just because he hasn’t played doesn’t mean he’s retired. In all the videos I’ve seen, the titles say he doesn’t have the urge to play right now. If he does retire, then it’ll be headline news but there’s no news articles on Larry’s retirement or a retirement speech. So that means, he’s a free agent. My edit, November 13, 2023
edit- "Professional" was removed, he played in the NFL, he is clearly a former professional player. (WP:COMMON)
- Removed "player who was", since "was" is used for deceased people, it was changed to simply "football wide receiver".
- Changed "He played college football at Pittsburgh" to "for the Pittsburgh Panthers"
- Used
NFL career receiving yards
, as well ascareer receptions
, and alsocareer receiving touchdowns
according to: MOS:MORELINKWORDS - Added spaces in the infobox parameters so that when the editing window opens, it is more organized.
