you got it wrong. 13... a6 ? is not a fat error, just a mistake
edit13...a6? 14.Nh5 Rfd8! 15.Nxf6+ Bxf6 16.Bxf6 gxf6 17.Rf3 leads to a dangerous position but not lost at all. the lost move is 14...Nxh5?? Bauer played that to avoid that previous dangerous position but didn't see 15.Bhx7!!
