The result of the move request was: Moved Leer → Leer, Lower Saxony and Leer (disambiguation) → Leer. No such user (talk) 14:26, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- Leer (disambiguation) → Leer
- Leer → ?
– The German town of 35,000 is not the primary topic over the other places with the name, the most notable among them being Leer, South Sudan, a town of 100,000. How should the German town be disambiguated though? Leer, Lower Saxony, or Leer, Germany, or something else? Uanfala (talk) 14:48, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- Comment - Is primary topic determined entirely by population? I think some click-through/visitor information would be useful here. I see by pageviews at least Leer in Germany totally dominates over Leer in South Sudan, though possibly some of those are people looking for other Leers. Perhaps people with more expertise in this can produce some better analysis than I can. FOARP (talk) 15:24, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- I was approaching this from the long-term significance angle. Usage is difficult to gauge directly when the primary title is not a dab page, but you're right that the article about the German town does receive a whole lot more pageviews than the other topics, and if were only going by those views, it would remain the primary topic. - Oppose for now, the 100k population for the South Sudan city is not in the unreliable source given (I have removed it) and the French Wikipedia claims just under 18k: fr:Leer (Soudan du Sud). the entire county has 59k residents? [1] Per the systemic bias of our sources, it seems likely that Leer in Germany is the primary topic. —Kusma (talk) 08:43, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- Neither city is PRIMARY, there's the relatively common word verb to "leer" that is also probably of equal significance. DAB should be at base name.--Ortizesp (talk) 01:53, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- Strong support, no PRIMARYTOPIC.--Ortizesp (talk) 01:53, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- Strong support. I have just added the link to Looking to the disambiguation page, and though leering (i.e., to leer) was already mentioned in that article, I have added references to support its use. BD2412 T 03:27, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- Weak support Leer, Lower Saxony (there is also Leer, North Rhine-Westphalia[2]) no clear primary topic per Ortizesp. Crouch, Swale (talk) 08:55, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
