What the fuck is the go for the team lists for the womans swimming relay? How the fuck can you have 6 swimmers in a team of 4? Whoever wrote it is so retarded! --122.148.67.159 (talk) 09:58, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Everyone in the entire team who contributed, whether they swam or not, gets a medal. .:. Alcedema (talk) 10:53, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Diferent people competed in the different stages aswellPiTalk - Contribs 11:40, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Everybody who swam in either the heats or the final gets a medal. Otherwise, Michael Phelps wouldn't have 8 medals in 2004 - he swam in only the heats in one relay. Same applies for athletics (track and field). Chanheigeorge (talk) 13:39, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, if you disagree with my content do not personally attack me on my own talk page. You have been warned many times before about attacking people on here. .:. Alcedema (talk) 12:56, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Table

edit

How about some table width consistancy. Is the date the medal was won on relevant? Also for team events, should country name and flag be above or below the team members? Davo499 (talk) 11:51, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for adjusting the widths. It looks a million times better now. As for the team events, I like the current country underneath way of doing it. -- MeHolla! 13:16, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lol i didn't do it, I had no time yesterday. Thankyou to whoever did. Davo499 (talk) 06:27, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No problem :P - Alcedema (talk) 08:41, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Looks like the sizes of the tables are out of whack again. -- MeHolla! 16:43, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion

edit

Something that I really think would push this to FL status would be including times/scores/records of the medalists, and denoting any World or Olympic records. -- MeHolla! 01:54, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm of the opinion that we should keep this page clean looking by limiting it to only the names of the events and the names of the medalists. The links are provided here so people can find more information on what happened. I just find all of this other data makes it cluttered.Balder Odinson (talk) 14:16, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
This list is fine off with just basic details. Including results would make it messy. Besides, only numbers are not very informative with s many different disciplines. Regarding the dates, this may be interesting while the games are ongoing but later when the list is full it will be redundant since all the info is in the events articles. --Tone 22:21, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Table of multiple medalists

edit

Should definitely be included in this page (eventually). Chanheigeorge (talk) 03:27, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's now at the bottom of the page. Not really a table, but I think a list is fine now. --Kvasir (talk) 18:55, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Actually here's a source from the IOC: [1], so we don't need to count ourselves. Chanheigeorge (talk) 09:38, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well that's the source where this table come from. We do need to come up with the criteria of inclusion in our wiki-list. 4 medals and above seem to cut the list to a presentable size. --Kvasir (talk) 15:51, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Images or Length

edit

Was thinking of adding an image or two to each section for aesthetic purposes, but the articles is already pretty big. What think others? Geraldk (talk) 22:06, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think the tables are too wide. Each is 825px wide, which is already too wide for the smallest screens. For others (like me), the images would have to be pretty small to not screw up the tables. So, I think it would be best to leave them out for now. -- Scorpion0422 23:14, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Rankings

edit

Is there a reason that the rankings for medal winners are based on total medals rather than gold medals, as they are everywhere else in our coverage of the Olympics? -- Jonel (Speak to me) 00:03, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes: I forgot. I have fixed it. -- Scorpion0422 00:08, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Actually, now that I think about it, I would rather keep it ranked by total medals. The list only has athletes who won more than 3 gold or 4 medals. If sorted by total medals, the athletes with three gold medals would come in natural progression after those with 4 medals of any colour. However, if sorted by gold medals, a number of athletes on the list wouldn't be in the top 10, so to say Natalie Coughlin is ranked in the top 10 when sorted by golds is false. -- Scorpion0422 00:14, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
