GPU architecture
editAs can be read here: Graphics_hardware_and_FOSS#ATI.2FAMD there are a couple of GPU microarchitectures, the latest being Terascale, VLIW5, VLIW4 and GCN (Graphics Core Next). It would be nice, if the architecture would be named in this and also in other articles, e.g. Jaguar (microarchitecture), List of AMD Accelerated Processing Unit microprocessors, etc.
Bobcat G-series
editI heard a rumor the video capability of the G-series might have less capabilities. If you find any proof, please post a link to it, and correct this article. • Sbmeirow • Talk • 02:30, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Base frequency/Multiplier change
editWhile AMD's processors have traditionally used a 200MHz base clock, and still do for AM3+ socket processors, their fusion processors should have switched to using a 100MHz base clock. Multiple tech review websites have shown the processors to have a 100MHz base clock. I personally own a desktop Llano CPU and at 2600MHz clock it has a multiplier of 26x, not 13x. Hopefully someone can correct this as I am too inexperienced in finding and linking sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.169.92.18 (talk) 18:43, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Trinity Bias
editThe notes that have been placed below the trinity section of the article have been written in a bias and inflammatory manner. While the points may indeed be correct, the section needs a re-write along with appropriate references if the claims are substantiated. The argument could also be made that these comments are not warranted at all on this page as it is essentially a technical list. Noslyl (talk) 16:01, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
new upcoming APUs

E2-1800 32 nm
editAs per http://products.amd.com/pages/NotebookAPUDetail.aspx?detailId=39&id=21&id=39&id=61 the E2-1800 is in 32 nm. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DrSeehas (talk • contribs) 07:15, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
PS4 APU for desktop
editApparently AMD is making a PS4 APU for the desktop. It looks like the PS4 is a Jaguar based CPU with 8 Cores running at 2GHZ & 1120 Stream Processors from what I read. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.50.139.54 (talk) 18:12, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
X2 340X
editHi!
1st: I'm working at a computer store.
I have a boxed FM2 processor in my hand, witch ain't listed here, and if I google for it I only find webshops who also sell it... o.O
Name:
AMD Athlon™ X2 340X
Writen on the CPU:
AD340XOKA23HJ
Diffused in Germany
Made in China
Writen on the BOX:
AD340XOKHJBOX
3.2GHz
3.6GHz Turbo core
1.0 MB Total Cache
Fura Alak (talk) 09:03, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
- That processor has the same part number as the AMD Athlon X2 340, which is already included in the Trinity section of the Desktop microprocessors. There doesn't seem to be a listing on CPU World for the X2 340X. Do you have any sources that confirm this is a different part? DElliott (talk) 08:31, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- I don't have other sources then the Box itself in my hand... The part number are the same, but they name differs, and the X2 340 should have 2 × 2 MB L2, but this box states the X2 340X has "1.0 MB Total Cache", ergo 2 × 0.5 MB L2... Weird.
I can only check the CPU if someone do buy it, and ask me to build it into a PC by myself, because it's owned by the company I do work for.

more Virgo/Trinity APUs
editA lot of Trinity APUs are missing, look here for a complete table from AMD: http://www.amd.com/de/products/desktop/processors/a-series/Pages/a-series-model-number-comparison.aspx -- 80.245.147.81 (talk) 07:37, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

No Carrizo
editAMD confirmed this chip in 2013 already for this year. Is there no more info on it yet? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 105.13.52.245 (talk) 00:00, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Godavari/Godavari Pro APUs
editI've noticed a few new AMD APUs that are in some places listed as "Godavari" and "Godavari PRO" APUs, which I believe are the desktop versions of the "Carrizo" and "Carrizo PRO" APUs. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar enough with Wikipedia to know how to create a new section & list for them (I just do minor edits). I've found the following in the HP EliteDesk 705 G2 systems (some links aren't available in English, apologies) :
AMD PRO A10-8850B APU with Radeon™ R7 Graphics (3.9 GHz up to 4.1 GHz, 4 MB cache, 4 cores) [1]
AMD PRO A10-8750B APU with Radeon™ R7 Graphics (3.6 GHz up to 4 GHz, 4 MB cache, 4 cores) [2]
AMD PRO A8-8650B APU with Radeon™ R7 Graphics (3.2 GHz up to 3.9 GHz, 4 MB cache, 4 cores) [3]
AMD PRO A6-8550B APU with Radeon™ R5 Graphics (3.7 GHz up to 4 GHz, 1 MB cache, 2 cores) [4]
AMD PRO A4-8350B APU with Radeon™ R5 Graphics (3.5 GHz up to 3.9 GHz, 1 MB cache, 2 cores) [5]
- Extec286 (talk) 23:13, 29 December 2015 (UTC)
- Godavari is just an updated Kaveri, still using the "Steamroller" microarchitecture, while Carrizo uses the newer "Excavator" microarchitecture. It's hard to tell Godavari and Kaveri apart other than their desktop part numbers end in C and A, respectively. Since the difference is so small I don't feel it is worth adding as a separate table. --Vossanova o< 21:17, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- Should it just be added to the Kaveri table, then? - Extec286 (talk) 21:22, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

APU without GPU?
editSee Feature overview table: "Carrizo/FM2+ - No APU models. Athlon X4 845 only". Now see "Carrizo" (2016) section. Athlon X4 835 and Athlon X4 845 is here. So we should choose: is they are APUs (and remove this remark about "No APU" from table) or not (and remove all Athlons from page) 109.172.98.69 (talk) 17:08, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

L1 cache info missing
editOnly Richland shows it. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 04:58, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- Now it should only be missing for custom. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 18:58, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

editI filled one example of each L1 configuration. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 00:57, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Did it for all desktop parts. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 05:20, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Server parts done. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 16:46, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

Double listing of Ryzen [3,5] 3[2,4]00[G,GE]
editI noticed that the “Raven Ridge Desktop” section also lists the 12nm SKUs that are marketed as “Picasso” and appear in that category as well. Is there a deeper reason behind this? Differences between RRidge and Picasso are arguably evolutionary only, but IMHO this doesn't justify duplication, and even less contradicting information (cf. TDP rating). --88.67.194.190 (talk) 12:37, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
- The reason was probably because it was using a template that was also being used to list all Ryzen APUs. I created a new template to for Zen 1 only and replaced it . Empresschild (talk) 20:31, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
FX-870K ?
editThe FX-870K is currently not listed here, but can be found for sale on eBay at the moment. Images show the part number FD870KYBI44JC. This CPU is also known to a few websites, such as https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?id=2858 which indicates 2 modules, 4 cores, and 3.6/4.0GHz clock speeds. I believe it is a Godavari CPU, perhaps a sort of "FX-770K refresh", and perhaps only sold to OEMs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.72.245.173 (talk) 19:02, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Broken AMD search links
editAll links of the kind products.amd.com/en-us/search/ are now broken, redirecting to a useless front page. They should probably be removed outright and replaced with URLs of the format used in other sections (www.amd.com/en/products/ ) if available. Nemo 08:10, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
Ryzen 6000 series
editHow come the Ryzen 6000 series of chips and updated 5000 series are not yet on this page?
Here's the list of new chips if someone wants to add them: [1]
Move discussion in progress
editThere is a move discussion in progress on Talk:AMD Accelerated Processing Unit which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 07:01, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
Attack on article?
editIs this article under attack by malicious actors? I check back here every now and then and lately GFlops have disappeared from entries where they existed before and Raphael is listed as the most current desktop GPU (and has been removed and readded). Which is somewhat misleading. You cannot say that Raphael doesn't have a GPU. So technically it could be argued that it belongs here. However Raphael is *extremely* basic (it will either be paired with a graphics card or just be used to run the operating system and not much more). Nobody looking for a current APU will want to find Raphael. It is a mainstream processor with minimal graphics (cf. https://chipsandcheese.com/2023/01/05/amds-zen-4-part-3-system-level-stuff-and-igpu/ "Raphael’s integrated GPU does not have the performance ambitions of AMD’s APUs, and seems intended to drive a display when no dedicated GPU is available. It features AMD’s modern RDNA2 graphics architecture, but implements it in the smallest configuration possible with just one WGP."). --2A02:810B:4B3F:EA94:5420:C0C9:8F73:6FD2 (talk) 13:28, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Dali Core
editShould split the Raven Ridge / Picasso dual cores to recognize the "Dali" die used on Athlon 3000G, and a few other dual-core parts... SVMLegacy (talk) 23:39, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
Should iGPU clocks use MHz or GHz?
editRecent (last 2-3 gens) tables mostly use GHz for CPU and iGPU clock rates. But articles about GPUs use MHz in tables (f.e. Radeon RX 6000 series, GeForce 40 series, etc...).
Should iGPU clocks be in MHz or we continue using GHz and maybe adjust older tables (MHz > GHz)? Rando717 (talk) 19:48, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
