editThe informations in the table extremly lack sources. Ammar (Talk - Don't Talk) 09:57, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ammar, the Information in the List is collected from Cities populations in Wikipedia...
and another thing... please people... this is a list for Arab League cities and not Cities with Arab populations.. its part of the Life in the Arab League and Demographics of the Arab League
the info here is different [[1]], wikipedia article is not a source, if you are really intrested in making your article worthy please get info from sources like CIA worldbook 87.101.224.234 (talk) 11:28, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
The populations stated disagree with the pages' own info, and is severely inaccurate, this page is probably better removed at present. For example the populations of Damietta, Port Said and Kafr El Dawwar are all stated above a million when in reality their populations are about 300 thousand! Removed the list
editI had to remove the whole list due to a complete lack of sources. I think the topic is important, but we cannot just have random people putting in random cities. Every list needs to be sourced. What is more, the same source needs to be used for all cities, people cannot cherrypick the sources they want. As removing the list means that there is almost nothing in the article, I will nominate it for a deletion in a week's time if no sourced data is provided. If there are sources, let's use them. If not, there is no point in this article.Jeppiz (talk) 17:11, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Foundation dates
editMany of these dates of foundation look doubtful. 12,000 b.c., really?24.19.234.62 (talk) 09:22, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Outdated information
editAlthough the subject is interesting the provided data/numbers is outdated, I checked this after visiting several official sites and it was a apparent that the number provided in this article are old.
As for the cities foundation date then this will never be clear, city as of today maybe 800 years old but civilization goes back to BC etc. i think it would be best to delete this column otherwise information would be misleading. --Jamalaz (talk) 15:22, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

List of largest cities in the Arab world → List of largest cities in the Arab League – To match actual definition provided in the opening sentence. According to the article's own definition, Mogadishu (capital of Arab League member state Somalia) should be at no. #5 with 5,249,083 onhabitants as of 2023. (Omdurman should also rank pretty high, but is not mentioned). Without changing the scope to 'Arab League', it is also difficult to justify the inclusion of a city like Erbil, whose population is mostly non-Arab. - Support. The proposed title will improve clarity about the page scope – "Arab world" is a bit nebulous, but it's unambiguous whether a given country is within the Arab League or not. Additionally, the proposed title will more precisely describe the criterion that this list purports to use already. ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 18:39, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. "Arab world" is a geographic concept, that however vaguely defined, is recognizable. "Largest cities" is also a vague geographic concept (how do you define "cities"?). Nonetheless a geographic article like this, however imprecise, is interesting to readers. By contrast, the term "Arab League" is very precise, perhaps a little too precise - who remembers exactly who is and who isn't a member?. The current list may limit the definition of the "Arab world" to the "Arab League", but that is a choice of convenience made by the editor. That criteria may change. The criteria of using the political "Arab League" to define the geographic "Arab world" is also used in the article "Arab world" itself. So it is consistent here (indeed, this page just seems to be an extracted subset of the "Arab world" article). We don't need to go replacing every instance of the term "Arab world" with "Arab League". This is a geographic article, not a political article. Geography should link to geography. Walrasiad (talk) 19:10, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose—This nomination assumes that the Arab World is an ethnic concept and not a geographical one. Erbil, despite its majority Kurdish population, is part of Iraq, which is part of the Arab World. This would be akin to moving List of Latin American cities by population to List of Organization of American States cities by population because there are non-Latinos (say, Creoles) living in Cuba. 〜 Festucalex • talk 07:16, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
