editI have just tried to clean up the page a bit. As per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting#When not to use boldface I have removed all the bold dates. It draws in the eye unnecessarily. After the date I have added the province the tornado occurred in. Doing that allowed all links to communities to drop the ", province" as the usage was inconsistent. Also I tried to multiple links to an article down to one per section (year). I tried to make sure the capitalisation was correct. So Southern Ontario but southern Manitoba. Some numbers but not all were converted. With one major exception I have tried to provide conversions for all and where the numbers were in Imperial I have flipped the result to give metric first.
I noticed that the following references named <ref name=Year1980>, <ref name=Year1981>, <ref name=Year1982>, <ref name=Year1983>, <ref name="CNTD-VT">, <ref name=Year1989>, <ref name=Year2008>, <ref name="Year2009"> all lead to the same place. They should either be merged into one or indicate which of the links on the reference they are referring to.
The last thing is the tables. I was going to convert them to km/h but when I looked at Fujita scale and Enhanced Fujita scale I noticed a problem. All the tables prior to 2013 use the speed as given in the Enhanced Fujita scale page. However, they should use the values from the original Fujita scale. The 2016 table uses the speeds from the Enhanced Fujita scale page but the descriptor is taken from the Fujita scale page. However, I think all tables before 2013 should use the left hand table at the bottom of Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF-Scale) and the 2016 should use the right hand table. These are the Environment Canada values and would be what the figures in the article refer to. So the 1980 table would look like this. Title change?
editShould the title be List of Canada tornadoes and tornado outbreaks instead of List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks? The current title seems somewhat solecistic IMO. In addition, there are other articles out there such as List of Canada hurricanes, which have a similar style of grammar. --Undescribed (talk) 00:06, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
Requested move 1 August 2022
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved to List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks (before 2001). per discussion consensus. This one has lingered for 3 relists (unheard of!) and 2 wikiproject requests for more input. That tells me that this is probably the most input we're going to get if a full MONTH is not enough. Dealing with that consensus as it stands, It appears option A has the most support. As a secondary WP:BOLD action, I will unilaterally move List of 21st-century Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks to List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks (since 2001) per WP:TITLECON. If that gets reverted or is otherwise troublesome, it may need a separate move discussion. Thanks everybody! (closed by non-admin page mover) — Shibbolethink (♔ ♕) 15:53, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks → List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks (before 2001) – A separate article of the same topic already has a clear indication of a time frame (List of 21st-century Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks), but for some reason this article doesn't appear to have one. I'm also a bit puzzled on the naming here, since that article was named "21st-century". These are the suggestions I can propose:
- A: List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks (before 2001)
- B: List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks (before 21st-century)
- C: List of pre-21st-century Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks

- Comment. Parentheses seem unnecessary. Why not List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks before 2001 if a change is needed? Station1 (talk) 06:04, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
- Comment List of 2nd millennium Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks ? they predate the 3rd millennium and none from earlier than the 2nd millennium are listed -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 05:51, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

- Support option A, iff list of 21st-century Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks is moved to List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks (since 2001) per WP:TITLECON. Given that this article has to specify that we are talking about
"2001 through 2100"
, I believe that the current title is ambiguous and needs clarification. HouseBlastertalk 18:54, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- As an major contributor to the page, I would support the change in the name in order to better align it with the 21st-century counterpart. I would support any of the suggested names, however, Option c best reflects the connection between the two pages. JustinWx (talk) 03:24, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Changing year span
editThis might be nit-picky and maybe it's just a me problem, but it really bothers me that this page is from 18th century-2001 and the corresponding page is from 2001-present. I was wondering if anyone would be opposed to me switching it so that this article is from 18th century-20th century (1999) and the corresponding page is from the 21st century-onwards (2000-present). It just really, really bothers me for some reason. Thanks! Garriefisher (talk) 23:14, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
