Question regarding sections
editShould there be sections for endorsements prior to nomination and post nomination? Okcgunner (talk) 03:20, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- I'd lean towards saying no. Look at List of Gary Johnson 2016 presidential campaign endorsements. There seems to be no difference between endorsements before and after the primary. Pennsylvania2 (talk) 04:10, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- Also no. With the exception of newspapers which will sometimes issue endorsement in the primaries only for the primaries, the presumption is that an endorsement is good as long as the candidate remains in the race, whether in the primary or general, unless and until the endorser says otherwise. --Vrivasfl (talk) 20:45, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
Did Vermin Supreme Endorse Jo Jorgensen?

Notability?
editSo far practically everyone listed in this article is either a former Libertarian Party candidate for some office or a prominent member of the Libertarian National Committee. Which is about as newsworthy as saying that the chair of the DNC supports the Democratic candidate or the chair of the RNC supports the Republican candidate. I don't think a separate "endorsements" article is really merited unless the candidate has been endorsed by notable persons/organizations that are NOT directly affiliated with the party. - Look at Trump and Biden endorsement's. They include links to DNC and RNC endorsements. Anyone with a Wikipedia page is notable and therefore can be listed as an endorsement. Donald Trump-other than maybe Jeff Van Drew- has received no endorsements from people that are not notable for being affiliated with Republicans. By your logic, he shouldn't have an endorsement page. Also, thee is clear precedent for the Libertarian Party nominee having a wikipedia page with their endorsements. Look at Gary Johnson in 2016.Pennsylvania2 (talk) 01:42, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

- Johnson had plenty of non-Libertarian endorsements, and Trump's list includes a number of people (look at the celebrities and athletes section under Individuals) who have no direct ties to the Republican Party, so that argument is false. But with the elections still months away, I suppose it's possible that Jorgensen will eventually end up getting other, less obvious endorsements. Jah77 (talk) 11:33, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
