YOMI's Leader: Kajima Satomi or Satomi Kajima?

edit

Okay, in chapter 352 there is a Niijima-provided reminder of all known members of YOMI, with their martial arts style and challenge symbols, and the leader of YOMI's name is written "Kajima Satomi" as expected if Kajima is his family name and he is Japanese. The other presumed Japanese YOMI members (Kushinada, Kanou, Asamiya) are written with their family names first. So why is his family name written first on the character page, when Wikipedia US policy is for personal names to be written first? Is this a mistake in the article? If so, it should be corrected as soon as possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.143.24.122 (talk) 17:07, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dou/Sei

edit

Ok, doesn't it strike you guys odd that Boris and his master Gaidar are different type fighters? I am sure that Boris is Sei since it's stated in the manga, but is there any evidence showing that Gaidar is Dou? I'd have thought he is a Sei fighter like Boris. I'll be changing it to Sei if no one adduces evidence to the contrary. Also, since the identity and martial arts style of Sero and the last of the Nine Fists have not even been revealed yet, how is is possible that their disciples types are already known? I propose to label them as unknown for now. Please discuss. Khanruey (talk) 18:24, 2 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Manga sometimes shows him with these blackened eyes, especially during his fights, one thing that is only seen with dou fighters.--84.63.172.185 (talk) 01:16, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Err if that's the case, wouldn't Tirawit be a Dou fighter then? He's labelled as a Sei fighter though in the article...Khanruey (talk) 21:37, 15 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's not odd that master and disciple are different types, as stated in the manga by Akisame, it can only be chosen by the disciple itself, so Tirawit being Sei and his master Dou wouldn't be weird, just like Boris (Sei) and Gaidar (Dou) isn't. Maybe they haven't stated "Gaidar is a Dou fighter" but he said to Boris on ch304 "...for the Sei types like you...(on nerieru-scans)" implying that he isn't one, also, like the time when meeting Ogata, and the fights he had until now puts him like a Dou fighter. With that said, i think the only ones who should be labeled unknown are the masters and disciples that haven't taken action until know (that, and the fact that Tirawit could calmly analyze Kenichi even while fighting and find/make that opening makes him a Sei fighter (at least in my eyes)). 190.43.92.106 (talk) 07:42, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm fair enough on Gaidar, though I'm still not convinced that Tirawit is a Sei type though. I am under the impression that any fighter who is master-class or close to master class would be able calmly analyse their opponents and exploit their opponents weakenss in a fight despite they are Dou or Sei. After all like what the Elder said, a Dou fighter requires a high level of self-control and Tirawit may happen to be one such fighter. Khanruey (talk) 12:49, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

On a side note, I would also like to discuss Hermit's type. Prior to shifting him from Ragnarok to the Shinpaku category, he was labelled as a Dou fighter. His fighting style seems to resemble Sakaki and Apachai where he uses anger to fight instead of relying on wits and talents like Kensei or Akisame. I propose to change it back into Dou. Khanruey (talk) 12:49, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would say he is more of a Sei fighter in his fight with Berserker he took a beatting knowning he chould handle it and that Berserker finsher whould be flashy and whould leave him open. That seem like a Sei user to me user:thedarklonewolf

I beg to differ. In his fight with Kenichi his movements were fierce and he also said that seeing Kenichi as such an honest fighter makes his blood boil and he gets extremely mad. Surely these traits are only evident in a Dou type martial artist? I don't think "taking a beating and looking for a chance to counter" makes him automatically a Sei martial artist. This is more like possessing good analytical skills, which I'm quite confident all types of good martial artist would be capable of doing so, not just a privilege of the Sei type. In addition, take Apachai's battle with the Chinese martial artist from the Black Tiger Alliance for example. Apachai is undoubtedly a Dou martial artist yet he is able to exercise maximum restraint and fought in a relatively tranquil manner when he saw the bird above the guy's head. This would seem to show that not all Dou martial artist fight recklessly, and sometimes they might find themselves in sticky situations where they need to fight in a relatively calm manner. Tanimoto seems to be doing so when he fought Berserker. I think the reason why most people tend to confuse Tanimoto as Sei is because he has a cold demeanour and acts in a suave and cool manner when he is not fighting. I will be changing him back to the original Dou if no one adduces further evidence. Khanruey (talk) 10:13, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

...Okay, I'm back, and for those who don't know me (which means all of you) I was one of the originals who pioneered the Shijou Saikyo Kenichi page(and edited hell lotta grammatical errors back then). I've stopped for like half a year, and I'm glad to see so many improvements since my time. But anyway I'm back for a while and will address these issues. Gaidar is a Dou- he has fits of anger, which corresponds to Dou's explosive energy by releasing the restraints on oneself. That much is settled. Tirawit is Sei- or so far, that's all we can assume with his limited appearance. He has no visible outbursts of emotions, maintaining a cold disposition at all times. Combined with his analytical abilities that are on par with Radin's and his mastery of psychological warfare which he played against Kenichi in order to secure a fatal hit, it is likely he is Sei, though we may put it on hold till his next appearance on the manga says otherwise. Hermit aka Tanimoto is more Dou than Sei, reasons being everything you've stated above + his bloodlust + intense emotions + fighting style. (In the showdown with Kenichi long ago, his last resort was to put all his strength into his attacks, which is obviously quite Dou.) Well, that's all for today. I'll be cleaning the page on more typos and grammar errors now. Ciao!~~EraMemory~~ 28 Jan 2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by EraMemory (talkcontribs) 15:33, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ma Kensei and Kensei

edit

I believe all references to Kensei the Yomi member should be replaced with Ogata to avoid confusing readers when Ma Kensei is mentioned. Alternatively Ma Kensei could always be referred to as such rather than as Kensei. If no replies appear I'll get to changing them all to Ogata —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.232.224.33 (talk) 17:52, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do. Khanruey (talk) 21:30, 28 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I changed all references to Ogata as Kensei or Kensei-sama to Ogata. If I missed any feel free to edit them yourself 86.141.162.246 (talk) 12:30, 29 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Renka's status with regards Shinpaku

edit

In 314 she challenged Nijima for the leadership and claimed to be the leader by virtue of winning a trial by combat. Kenichi persuaded her to relinquish the leadership which she intended on keeping by beating all of it's members who were opposed to her overthrowing Nijima. After apologising she was accepted by Takeda and Ukita and having seen her catlike attributes Kisara accepted her. I assume all the othersa who were absent at the time would accept her as well hence why I believe she should be moved to the Shinpaku section of the page 86.141.162.246 (talk) 13:23, 25 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just a lil extra abt the recent poster who updated Kenchi's profile to add the recent YAMI Ma family arc in. Though details or more or less accurate, they r also written in lousy grammer and vocabulary and simply kills my brain to read that first grade English. Please use something more decent on the eyes next time. Will go rewrite taht now. 14:45, 5 May 2009 (UTC)EraMemory —Preceding unsigned comment added by EraMemory (talkcontribs)

Niijima

In Episode 30 he is seen with a ray gun, an alien suit and a space ship, doesnt that me he IS an alien and hes not just "like" an alien? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Setsuka13 (talkcontribs) 05:47, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's just another of the series' comedic visual gags. It's not to be taken seriously. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.242.96.238 (talk) 00:38, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Are we sure that he's voiced by Takumi Yamazaki? This role isn't listed on his wiki page or on imdb. Somebody who can read Japanese should check the credits and, if it IS him, update his wiki page. 174.24.36.118 (talk) 07:20, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, Yamazaki is the voice of Niijima. AnimeNewsNetwork has him listed in the Kenichi cast list, and the source of that information are the credits of the anime itself. 84.250.106.232 (talk) 20:50, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Shō Kanō

edit

Shō is not the son of Saiga Fūrinji and thus not Miu's half-brother. He was born into a special family called Kuremisagoshū and raised by Yami. Sonstwer (talk) 09:29, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shinpaku Rengou

edit

Well I do not think there is a need to dedicate a new section for the Shinpaku Rengou since most group members are composed of ex-Ragnarok's members. I think it would be arguably easier to give a brief description on each of the characters who joins Shinpaku later instead of repeating already available information by creating a new section.Khanruey (talk) 06:58, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

KING

edit

According to volume 21, chapter 188 of the manga KING's name has been revealed and is most certainly not "KING". However I only have the Chinese translation of the name and would greatly appreciate it if any of you Japanese readers out there would be kind enough to provide me with the katakana and romaji version. Thanks in advance. Khanruey (talk) 06:58, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

WTF MAN.....!!!!!

edit

As far as i know their is only 148 chapters for this manga their is absolutly no Yomi.........Yami or anything of that sortGrimmjow E6 (talk) 03:22, 20 July 2008 (UTC)......Reply

What a display of sheer ignorance. My friend, latest chapter in Japan as of 20 July 2008 is chapter 296. I'd advise you to get your facts right before making a fool out of yourself here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.13.22.111 (talk) 19:34, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes i have, and for that i am sorry, once ″ignorant″ is used as lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified i did so forgive me for that......Grimmjow E6 (talk) 00:25, 21 July 2008 (UTC)And also can you please tell me exactly where i can find these chapters because I DID try my best to find any information on chapters higher than 148. And also since this page is UNREFERENCED and have no verifiable sources you cannot hold that against me ( :Reply

Not sure what you guys are arguing about, but anyway can you read Japanese or Chinese? Otherwise you will need to wait a while as the english translators have only managed to cover it until what...chapter 155? I would personally translate it myself if I can somehow obtain the raw chapters with good scans. Khanruey (talk) 06:49, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

SPARK

edit

I don't think Spark (Li Tianmen's daughter) is a member of YOMI, since I remember reading somewhere that YOMI is an organisation made up by the disciples of the One Shadow Nine Fists...which is quite evident Li Tianmen is not a member of. Furthermore the cover of chapter 188 has a picture of all YOMI members and she was not included in it. Unless someone is able to provide me with further clarfication on this issue I will remove Spark's entry from YOMI. Thanks. Khanruey (talk) 06:42, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry i wouldnt know you will have to ask the guy i was talking with but have berserker appered after his defeat in the manga? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grimmjow E6 (talkcontribs) 21:05, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nope he has not. Seems like he is no longer an important character anymore along with Loki. Khanruey (talk) 17:03, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

But he was SUPER COOL, to me he is the best character in the series —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grimmjow E6 (talkcontribs) 06:18, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Updated: Ok I have done some more research and I can confirm that Li Raichi is an official member of YOMI, and that YOMI membership does not confine itself to disciples of the One Shadow Nine Fists so I'll probably need to rewrite that part in the introdution. So how do we explain chapter 188 then? On reading the Japanese wiki, it shows that there exists a heirarchy within YOMI itself. Disciples of the One Shadow Nine Fists make up the leadership council of YOMI, not unlike their masters forming the central committee of Yami. I think it's reasonable to assume that picture meant only to show the leadership comittee and hence provides a valid explanation as to why Raichi was excluded. I hope this clarifies things up. Odin/Ryuto Asamiya

edit

Both of these descriptions are nearly identical except that the Ryuto Asamiya section has a little more information. I think the Odin section should be shortened considerably and direct readers to the other section since its redundant for both sections to have the same info. 99.242.88.200 (talk) 23:00, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Exactly. That was the reason why I didn't bother to put down separate entries for members of the Shinpaku Alliance members since it adds nothing new. Would you be kind enough to rewrite the sections you pointed out? Many thanks in advance. By the way since we're talking about Ryuto Asamiya I might as well bring this up. Do you (or anyone else who's reading this) think his YOMI symbol (the Japanese word "Ryuu") means Stream or Flow? I have put it down as "Flow" for the time being as it corresponds to the literal meaning of the word and I think it is more appropriate in this context as the word "ryuu" in itself does not carry the meaning of a stream. Any thoughts? Khanruey (talk) 22:04, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well the kanji that are use can tanslate to either Flow or Stream so either one can be used

Miu cannot and has not used Seikuken

edit

Whoever keeps writing in her profile that she can perform Seikuuken needs to stop. Seikuuken is a skill/technique exclusive only to Sei or Sei/Dou types. Miu is strictly a Dou-type fighter and has never shown the ability to use it.

Agreed. This is explicitly mentioned in the manga during her fight with Ganryuu X so can anyone who keeps on writing that please stop? Khanruey (talk) 20:12, 8 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hayato's child

edit

Has it been stated anywhere in the manga or anime which one of Miu's parents was Hayato's child? Mopopolis (talk) 18:17, 8 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

It has not. Also bear in mind that the manga is the canon here. Khanruey (talk) 20:11, 8 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

chapter 287 pretty much confirmed that Hayoto's son is Miu's father 82.24.224.77 (talk) 15:08, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not necessarily. Shigure only states that the armguards were from the elder's son and did not explicitly mention that they belong to Saiga. Hayato could have had a few sons. Khanruey (talk) 22:03, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shinpaku Alliance

edit

Even though Freya, Siegfried, and Thor's real names have been revealed, they still go by their nicknames more often and their real names are almost never used. It is my contention that they should be referred to as such in the article. Also I never recalled Ukita was being made a captain in the manga and I think he should still be a liutenant. Can someone clarify this?Khanruey (talk) 21:54, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Updated: In chapter 315 when the Shinpaku Alliance meet up with Chikage at Matsuelark, Niijama refers to Ukita as deputy chief (not a captain). This is all the proof I need and as such I will be removing Ukita's entry from the list of captains. Khanruey (talk) 18:52, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Miu's relationship with Kenichi

edit

seriously no offence but i thinck that the fact that she is oblibious to his feelings might be true sice evrytime he about to say something related t that she lost but the fact that it says that her character does not show any emotion as related to a relationship is bull because she has goten jealous of othe women that like kenichi still not knowing what that feeling was and she has even stated in a chapter this :"if his sence of justice is like this if he keeps on showing this i might.....(fall for him) i mean come on seriously u don't see that she does but just does not show it well because she has been allienated from society and does not know much about what she feel for Kenichi think about it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.26.24.136 (talk) 22:25, 18 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Entry for Elder

edit

The entry for the Elder says that it has been stated that he is getting weaker? I don't recall ever seeing this. Also, when he says he will have to rest for a day or two it is not from using .002% of his power, but rather from using the split body technique. I guess talking with two different "voices" and splitting your body down the middle and controlling them separately is taxing on the body. It had nothing to do with him over exerting himself by using a tiny bit of his power.

Loki's Appearance

edit

Is it just me, or does it become completely obvious in the Chapter 83 scene with seven of Loki's "shadows" whipping out their stun baton weapons that Loki's appearance is modeled on the Marvel Comics character Gambit - except wearing mesh-lensed goggles? His trenchcoat design, hair band, body-glove-styled top, hair cut, even the collapsing staff design of the batons... all of it looks extremely familiar. One of the doppelgangers even twirls his staff over his head in a Gambit-esque fashion. Atypicaloracle (talk) 21:26, 31 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sourcing problems

edit

I've begun a general copyedit of this article, but I notice that there are no secondary sources, and that there are not even any primary sources for any section from "Ragnarok" to the end of the page. Unless this can be cited, I'll be cutting out quite a bit of the text and reducing this to a much more compact list. Shimeru 20:14, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
