The redirect here, should really point towards List of basic geography topics, in the meantime.

I believe some elements of that [List of basic geography topics] should be merged into the new Outline draft, and the page-development-history should (in the end) be merged at one location, as it's still the same page in essence. Needs clickable maps

Someone placed a cleanup tag on the outline with the comment that it needs clickable maps. I've removed the tag, and have posted this message to bring the issue to light. The Transhumanist 20:24, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

I agree that clickable maps may make the page less dull, but obviously we cannot include maps for all the places being mentioned because in that case the article will become very lenghty. Therefore, I suggest that we only add clickable maps for some important regions, say the political map of Europe. -- 7D HMS (talk) 10:47, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Quick explanation of Wikipedia outlines

"Outline" is short for "hierarchical outline". There are two types of outlines: sentence outlines (like those you made in school to plan a paper), and topic outlines (like the topical synopses that professors hand out at the beginning of a college course). Outlines on Wikipedia are primarily topic outlines that serve 2 main purposes: they provide taxonomical classification of subjects showing what topics belong to a subject and how they are related to each other (via their placement in the tree structure), and as subject-based tables of contents linked to topics in the encyclopedia. Annotation by template

I am adding the template {{Annotated link}} to non-annotated article links as they will then be automatically annotated using the short description of the article. If you dont like the annotation, please consider improving the short description as that way both will be improved. There is no technical reason not to expand this to already annotated links provided they have short descriptions.
