Lots of unnecessary duplication
editRight now there is significant duplication of material in the following three articles:
- State of Palestine
- Foreign_relations_of_the_Palestinian_National_Authority
- Diplomatic_missions_of_the_Palestinian_National_Authority
I'm going to think about this for a bit and read a bit about how other countries handle such a situation before deciding on a course of action. --Abnn 22:47, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. Glad to see that Diplomatic_missions_of_the_Palestinian_National_Authority has been redirected here. The earlier title was wrong. FR of the PNA should be replaced by Palestinian Foreign Relations or something similar. The SoP/PLO are the things with international relations; the PNA is something domestic, created by Oslo. Ramallite has some excellent, as always, relevant comments on one of these pages. The only (rough) parallel I know of, if this helps, is the relation between the Holy See and Vatican City.John Z 09:38, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- This article is written in the style of any other Diplomatic Missions by Country article. There is no intention to cover foreign policy, only to list the diplomatic missions and make observances about their deployment. Under the principle of naming articles according to how the subject of an article refers to itself (as opposed to how other countries call it), the article is named Palestinian Diplomatic Missions (not PNA diplomatic Missions). Kransky 01:26, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
While the PLO office in Washington DC is correctly labeled as such, it is put under the rubric of "diplomatic mission." The US and the PLO do not maintain diplomatic ties and the PLO mission does not enjoy diplomatic privileges or immunities. So why is it listed here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.109.9.199 (talk) 20:25, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Discussion at WP:FOR on formatting and content of "List of diplomatic missions" article
editThere is now a discussion at WP:FOR on the formatting and content of "List of diplomatic missions" articles. As this discussion ostensibly could affect this article, editors are encouraged to provide their opinions on the WP:FOR at this link - Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_International_relations#Formatting_of_diplomatic_missions_lists - please do not discuss on this article talk page as valid points for consideration may very well not be seen by editors at large. Map is out of date
editHi, I noticed that the map is out of date and does not reflect the current state of the article. Does anyone have the technical capability to make a new map? I have removed the link to the old map. Thanks Bevinbell 00:45, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- I fixed the map, so makes sense to update it —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bevinbell (talk • contribs) 00:13, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Embassies & General delegations
editHi, I think it would be good to separate embassies & general delegations in two categories, for clarity of information. Thanks --HCPUNXKID (talk) 13:26, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- We treat Palestinian missions like those of any other country, and so this article follows the same structure as other DMBC articles. As long as embassies and general delegations are marked as separate I consider the information is clear enough. Kransky (talk) 21:42, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Request to UNESCO & embassies
editHi, where in that request talk about embassies in the referenced countries? Only talks about 3 eastern bloc european countries (Rusia, Bulgaria & Czech republic) who upgrade to embassy. It lists the recognitions, but that doesn't means an embassy in that countries. That's not a reliable source, as it doesnt mention the embassies that are referenced to it. Need to find another references. Regards.--HCPUNXKID (talk) 18:46, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
HCPUNXKID I don't think that you need to remove these embassies. If you look at each section of a country's foreign relations template and click on the list of diplomatic missions in you will find out that they have embassies of Palestine as well as the General Delegations of Palestine. So I don't think these embassies should be removed at all. Please also look at the map above and you will find out that these embassies do exist. But you are right we need a new reference. The Wikipedia administrators will decide and they will find out what to do. But in the meantime these embassies need to stay right here. Also please look at the websites for Foreign Minister of the Palestinian Authority Thank you.---Rohilbx (talk) 16:48, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Israel representation
editDoes PNA or PLO have some representation/office/delegation/etc. to Israel? Or some special department(s) in PNA/Israeli governments? The PNA and Israel governments do communicate somehow after all... Alinor (talk) 07:48, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Slovenia upgrades relations
editSlovenia has upgraded relations and representation to the level of mission. Link is behind a paywall, but the relevant information is visible [1] - Canadian Bobby (talk) 00:49, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
Turkey
editTurkey is a member of the Council of Europe, NATO, and is a candidate for membership into the European Union. They are technically part of Europe. Please do not involve the Armenian Genocide in this as the UN never said that Turkey was a part of Asia and Armenia is part of Europe also as they are part of the Council of Europe. Religion does not play a role in determining a country's location. Georgraphy and membership in regional organizations does. --XLR8TION (talk) 14:55, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- For further information, please see [2]--XLR8TION (talk) 15:09, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- Joining the EU or any political organisation doesn't magically teleport a country in or out of a particular geographical region. Geography isn't politics, and geography isn't culture. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 18:59, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Take a look at the Wikepdia article of European nations: [3] Turkey is part of this definition. Please use rationality here and accept this fact. You're heading to your 3RR.--XLR8TION (talk) 19:00, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'm a main editor of that page, and I hardly see how you can use that as reasoning. Why don't I ask you to look at the main article on Asian nations? Turkey is part of that definition. Please use rationality and accept that fact. Anyway, an edit war goes two ways, it would be nice if you would respect WP:BRD. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 19:05, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, you've broken 3RR, which you're obviously aware of. I'll ask you now to self-revert, since you're clearly interested in the 3RR process. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 19:08, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
You are NOT looking at the facts there. Look at the page of sovereign European states. Turkey is on the list!! That's the Wikipedia article. I might be break an 3RR rule, but at the end, administrators will agree with me that the facts have been layed out and that if Wikipedia's article on Europe includes, Turkey, than it should be listed under Turkey. Look at [4] and see that you're wrong. The definition here is set by Wikipedia's definition of Europe, nit by the UN. Not reverting anything as I have nothing to revert.--XLR8TION (talk) 19:12, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
By the way, on October 7th you edited the artcle [5] and no made NO changes to it by not removing Turkey from the list. Hence you acknowledge back on ctober 7th that Turkey is part of Europe. Why aren't you recognizing it now? Check edit history and realize the editorial hypocrisy you're showing today.--XLR8TION (talk) 19:16, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

notice
editmap must include colombia as blue, as it recently recognised palestine
Map needs correction
editThe map file needs corrections: instead of "official missions", it should say "Embassies"; instead of "Unofficial missions", it should say "Diplomatic offices". Diplomatic offices are also "official", they are just not embassies. Dan Palraz (talk) 12:04, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
