Merge
editThis is essentially a page that is really needless. The facts will still function on the other page. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 01:34, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
This page is of extreme importance. The suggested merge article heavily focuses on the US. Australia has had a rich history with Drive-In theatres, and deserves it's own article.Pandmaster (talk) 08:26, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- Any suggestion to merge an Australian article into a US oriented list is incorrect - there are australian aspects that do not fit into a US -centric list - considering the time the merge has been there - I am removing it as there is no sign of adequate support or follow up for the merge 18 months, and 5 months and thats all there is - closed SatuSuro 08:48, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
What exactly in this article wouldn't fit into the main list of Drive-in theares? I haven't checked every item on the list, but at least 90% it is on both. The opening section is basicly a shortened version of Drive-in theatre with about a paragraphs worth of information about specific drive-ins in australia, which could easily be moved to the begining of the australia section on the Drive-in list, or the main drive-in article. I think that any "australian aspects" would be completely welcome in the main list or the drive-in article. They should definitely be merged. Michael1115 (talk) 18:24, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with Satu Suro in that the article on Drive-in theatres is extremely US centric and just incorporating into a list does not do the Australian history of drive-in theatres justice. Dan arndt (talk) 09:26, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
The main list is way too long and for readability's sake if nothing else needs to be broken up into a series of pages like this one. Further drive-ins, whilst similar to their American cousins, exist in an Australian cultural context with their own histories and characteristics. Most city drive-ins in Australia were for example owned by a handful of owners (Village, BCL, Hoyts etc) and often had names that ended in -line or - way. The value in a directory of open drive in theatres in Australia is also in separately identifying a modern and growing trend in Australia namely - family orientated drive-in theatres.
