Really An Article About What Was Considered Treasonous?

edit

This article is not really about who was "hanged, drawn and quartered", its about what was considered treasonous. Not all people committing such crimes were "hanged, drawn and quartered".

Eliz I

edit

Eliz I fined people who did not attend the Church of England, but no further punishment was levied according to Alison Weir's "Life of Elizabeth I".

Punishment in England

Okay, this article isn't an FA, so can someone please tell me why I'm not allowed to include information on the subject of this article in countries other than England? 79.97.144.17 (talk) 22:18, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Could you please format your changes the same way as the rest of the article. Nev1 (talk) 22:25, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
What's wrong with how I'm formatting? 79.97.144.17 (talk) 23:04, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Take a look at how the other references are formatted. They're not just a link, they have information such as the author's name, the publisher, date the link was accessed on etc. It all helps if at some point the bare urls you provided go dead. Nev1 (talk) 23:13, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
What's wrong with having simpler refs there until I have time to format them? Why delete the information wholesale?79.97.144.17 (talk) 23:18, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
It hasn't been removed from this article. Yet. If you have the time to flit between ANI, this article and its parent surely a couple of minutes to format your references properly isn't too hard to come by. Nev1 (talk) 23:21, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
A couple of minutes is quite hard to come by, especially considering that never having formatted a reference like that before it would probably take me longer than you're thinking. 79.97.144.17 (talk) 23:42, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

WP:Death Assessment Commentary

edit

The article was assessed B-class, though the title is misleading, as the body of the article is hardly in list format. I suggest creating lists in each section beneath the detailed descriptions of history, or changing the title to People hanged, drawn and quartered. Boneyard90 (talk) 05:14, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Where is the announced List?

edit

I was expecting a list with date, name, accusation and maybe a (short) commentary if the details are not found in an article about the delinquent. But this is a long and boring text - mainly OT - which should be integrated into the article "hanged, drawn and quartered".--46.115.90.252 (talk) 11:51, 1 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Just came here to ask the same question - why is this page a list? Surely it needs to be deleted or absorbed into the far more comprehensive Hanged, drawn and quartered.  Giano  15:48, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
If memory serves it was spun out from the main because it was unbalancing things, but Parrot of Doom is the man in the know. Nev1 (talk) 19:56, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
You can find the lists by looking up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:People_executed_by_hanging,_drawing_and_quartering Ajschorschiii (talk) 02:06, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I concur that this is a "list" in name only. Propose that it be edited into a true list. 153.103.130.11 (talk) 15:01, 29 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Still not a list!78.53.160.76 (talk) 20:45, 10 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm here on this talk page for the same reason! Wikipedia lists are useful as lists. The wanking commentary can go on the main page fro this topic Hanged, drawn and quartered. --Kenmayer (talk) 13:47, 23 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Where the hell is William Wallace?

edit

I don't know enough about history to edit the article, but William Wallace is definitely missing. He is the first person one would think of when this punishment is mentioned, but he doesn't appear on this "list" anywhere. What gives?

Names to add to the list

edit

We need to add people from these sources

Nat Turner should be here right? On his wiki page it says he was drawn and quartered. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.64.214.150 (talk) 19:32, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
