Descriptions about particular schools listed in this article
editThis article only includes a list of the popular schools in a specific city in Sri Lanka. To keep things clear and nice, please don't insert any descriptions here. Any descriptions about a particular school should be inserted in a separate article about that particular school.
Other improvements to this article are always welcome ! Wiki 18:03, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
St. Sylvester's College is not a privet school by any means. please remove that from the privet school list and add it to government section —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.43.129.112 (talk) 09:30, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Adding new schools to the list
editThese are major cities of Sri Lanka please add schools around that city and no those in the district and when moving schools from one category to another please delete the name from the old category.
Also dont add dead links (links to pages not created yet) lets keep this page clean.Nitraven 12:38, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Private schools
editPrivate schools are schools that are registered with/under the ministry of education and follow the local curriculum including AL's and OL's. These schools are Bilingual Medium as they teach in both Sinhala and English some in Tamil also, hence there are no English Medium Private Schools or Bilingual Medium Private Schools only private schools. The following schools;
- Ceylinco Sussex College Network
- Minhal Boys' School, Kotahena
- Vajira College, Colombo
- Vidura College, Colombo
will fall under the Category Exceptions as they are registered under the Board of Investment (BOI) and not under ministry of education. If any one wants to contest this please provide credible references to prove otherwise.Nitraven 05:37, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Except for Vajira College, else are taught is enlgish medium and none of the are registered under BOI. Plz move back the contetnts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by InduUS (talk • contribs) 20:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Will move back the contents if credible sources are sighted for this claim. Until such time these 4 schools will remain under the ExceptionsNitraven (talk) 03:23, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

- Rehman Abubakr, the reason for removing the edits you made had its due reasons, primary of which is this is an article of schools in Sri Lanka. Although listing all major schools (of all types) in Sri Lanka are not possible due the sheer number of then, however this article tries to list as much possible hence new additions are welcomed. But having a different articles to list different types of schools are a redundancy, specially since its of list. That is why I have request to merge the two articles. However if you wish to create an article on schools of different types extensively covering their formation, history, evolution, etc please go ahead and make one and list them. But don't break a part of the list and create a separate article adding that removed list. It degrades the primary article. As for the grammatical errors non of them were removed please check, only the list of schools you removed I re-added. All constructive additions are welcomed.Nitraven (talk) 13:27, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Nitraven, No harm done, it was just so you know. The reason i did that was because the article seems to be too large. And large articles are however (inspite whatever circumstances) subjected to be summarized into sub-articles... In case there is an administrative recommendation for article summarizing, i think it is better we start creating sub-articles. Thank you for your support, take care. --Rehman Abubakr (talk) 10:34, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
