editI'm trying to write an article about a professor and well known business man in the Portland, OR area. How can I keep from advertising him in the process? This is my first article, so please give me some tips on how to write about him without advertising. Thanks! (Oregonwebteam (talk) 22:37, 27 February 2008 (UTC))
- Thanks for asking for assistance. Your first stop should be to read the notability guidelines at WP:N, WP:Bio and WP:Notability (academics). --ukexpat (talk) 22:49, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
This gentleman definitely fits many of the criteria for being notable both for WP:Bio and WP:Notability (academics). Is it possible that editors like yourself will let this article continue if I continue to list independent sources confirming notability? (Oregonwebteam (talk) 23:10, 27 February 2008 (UTC))
- You've done quite well. All the organisations and universities that the subject has been associated with need to be linked by placing them in two pairs of square brackets - like this - [[ ]]. Itsmejudith (talk) 16:50, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- And see WP:LEAD for how to begin the article. Then continue in chronological order. Avoid phrases like "over 20 years" and give the exact dates (by year) of taking up and leaving posts. Itsmejudith (talk) 16:55, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
