I think the "Honda Super Classico" (LA-CHV) and the Houston-Dallas cup (I forget the name) need to be added. --Scaryice 00:21, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Name Change

edit

Since the Heritage Cup will likely be contested between more than one club in the future, I'd propose the article's name be changed to MLS club cups. There is no official name for this grouping so lower case title is fine. When Portland and Vancouver enter MLS with Seattle, the Cascadia Cup could enter as well. --Blackbox77 (talk) 01:52, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Good points. I agree with the rename. --SkotyWATalk|Contribs 05:10, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'm thinking MLS rivalry cups might be a better name. --Blackbox77 (talk) 23:03, 23 July 2009 (UTC)--Reply

Inclusion of rivalries that do not involve a cup

edit

Should the California Clasico and SuperClasico be included on this page? Except for these, every competition listed involves a cup or item being contested for. I may be wrong but does either rivalry have a cup? I feel like this article was solely created to explain the minor cups that exist in MLS, and including any rivalry turns the article into a mere listing of MLS grudge matches. Maybe the article's subject/title should be refocused to cover all bona fide MLS rivalries and not just the ones that compete for a cup. --Blackbox77 (talk) 02:19, 14 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Canadian Championship too. It is not an MLS Rivalry Cup but it is contested between MLS clubs that are all Canadian rivals. It's bigger than a rivalry cup so there may never be one for Canadian clubs. Perhaps there is room for this and the non-cup rivalries mentioned in the above paragraphs?Donutcity (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 22:42, 28 October 2011 (UTC).Reply

What is awarded in the derby

edit

The lede had some details about a select set of derbies. It described whether they played for a cup or some other trophy or simply bragging rights. I removed it based on WP:V and WP:INDISCRIMINATE. If we're going to mention it in the lede we should 1) not be selective and discuss each derby 2) have it in the table 3) have a reference for the "award". Without it, it's playing favourites as well.
