Spelling Vasca [dD]a Gama

edit

The spelling of Vasco Da Gama ("da" vs. "Da") is a bit uncertain. The Portuguese explorer and CMV's website use "da", but the signage on the ship, clearly seen here, and onboard signage and cabin key cards, use "Da" (or rather Da). Registry databases seem to use all caps. Is there a way to find out the exact spelling, or should we be content with a bit of uncertainty? -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 11:15, 12 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Names on ship bows are always in all uppercase. The only thing which would trump CMV's website is the record in the classification society or official record by the flag state but I suspect the former will use all uppercase (DA rather than Da) Lyndaship (talk) 12:46, 12 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
