Makua in Madagascar
editThere is a small community of Makua in Madagascar descendants of slaves, many still capable of the language, I believe they live near the west coast of Madagascar.

there were also a strong contingent of them sent to Mauritius and Reunion, I am not sure about Seychelles and Comoros.Domsta333 11:40, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
states?
editdoes anyone know of any Makua polities (states, kingdoms, chiefdoms). i've scoured the net and can't find jack on Makua civilization prior to or even that much after european contact. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4shizzal (talk • contribs) 20:18, 27 December 2006 (UTC).
Indirect pre-European references to the people can be found in medieval Arab writings about the land of the "Zanj" ( the ancient Za-nchi = 'coast', according to Felix Chami ) bordering the land of the wakua ( prefixes Ma-/Wa- interchangeable ) erroneously called "Wak Wak" by the said Arabs. Start from there, and pardon my poor english. 41.114.252.23 (talk) 11:06, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
Fishy
editThis article currently has no references and I find it hard to believe that most of the Makua are Christians and that all of the Makua in South Africa are practicing Muslims. I'll do some NPOV rewriting until sources can be found to back up those claims. Invmog (talk) 23:16, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
MAKOUA IS AKOUA
editJust another addition to this article. Makoua people are first Animists before adopting the imported religions on the continent. Another point is that Makoua people are also found in Congo Brazzaville in the northern part. I am surprised this is not documented, as it is the largest northern ethnic group in Congo Brazzaville. 91.110.249.2 (talk) 19:19, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
