Served in the presidential guard myself. Nowadays evzones use the M1 Garand.

I thought they looked like Garands when I saw them close-up in Greece, but I read a (probably outdated) source that mentioned the Mannlichers.--Jpbrenna 18:03, 7 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I have three Mannlicher Schönauers 6x54MS, 8x56MS and 7x64. The 8x56MS cartridge deserves a mention. It is also worth mentioning that the rifle and particularly the full stocked carbine handles extremely well and can be brought to bear on a target quickly. The criticism of the action's limited ability to cope with telescopic sights has some merit but with proper mounts the problem can be resolved. Some criticise the rifle for the slender stock but I feel this has no justification. 80.96.217.220 13:04, 5 December 2006 (UTC) John Walkley jvcwalkley@yahoo.com 5th December 2006Reply

Hi John, Just looked at this article since years, i´m the author of the german M-S WP-article. Funny for me as you mention your rifle-inventotry, because i have a 8x56M.S. carbine, a M1950 7x64 rifle and a 9,5x57M.S. carbine and i´m searching a perfect 6,5x54 since years! There are several ways to mount a scope properly. If you are interested in photos and parts description of the way the did it before WWII with 4x scopes and mounts that resisted the recoil for a hunters life, leave a comment here and i try to PM you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Truedings (talkcontribs) 21:47, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

suggestion

The diagram of the rifle is pretty nice. I would suggest it be moved closer north in the article so the reader sees it much sooner. My unsolicited $.02.Angry Christian (talk) 16:25, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mannlicher Carcano

edit

There is no proof whatsoever that JFK was killed by a Mannlicher Carcano, by a shot from the rear, that the man the world has come to know as "Lee Harvey Oswald" had anything to do with it or that he ever ordered, received, possessed or used said weapon.
