Lack of neutrality
editThe article is grossly favourable to the subject. It is written colloquially, full of rethorical expressions, needs citations everywhere, presents as fact the highly speculative and completely unverifiable claim that the pilot was a deep undercover agent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fleetpeter (talk • contribs) 14:45, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
What was his personal life like?
editThe article mentions his wife Jill twice. He married a stewardess named Jean Marie Eberman in 1953.[1] Is Jill a nickname for Jean or did he divorce and remarry? Did he have any children? --Jtir 21:01, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
comments on photos
editThe photos are a great addition to the article.
I have tagged most of them with copyright tags, but am unclear on exactly what permission the Fernandez family is giving.
The photo of Fernandez in his flight suit is perfect for the first photo in the article. I tagged it as a possible copyvio because it is from Time mag. Are there any family photos from that period that could be used instead? The Bendix photo would be an excellent substitute.
The captions do not clearly identify individuals when there are several in the photo.
The caption beneath the newspaper photo itself is not legible. A complete transcription, possibly as a footnote, would be helpful.
The crash site photo needs more annotation so readers can tell what they are looking at. Is the photo showing wreckage or just weeds?
The bold face in the captions is distracting, especially when wikified
Since this is a bio of Fernandez, photos of Davis and Hemming are unnecessary, because they do not also show Fernandez.

- This web page has two annotated photos of the Joseph C. McConnell crash site: The Crash of the F-86H (aka - "The McConnell Site") - 25 August 1954 --Jtir 06:20, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
Why are there two pages for the same guy?
edit- Why in the world are there two articles for the same man? Apparently the other article is older and dates back to July, and this article dates to August although this one has a lot more photographs and information. Why not re-direct the other page to this one? Just makes sense to me.

A brief introduction would be useful
editA brief introduction before the table of contents explaining who he is and what he did would be useful for novices. Drutt 21:47, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. I completely agree. I have already restored the lead sentence twice now after editors removed it without explanation. While a lead section is not mandatory, this article is certainly long enough to need one. Indeed, it could be expanded from a sentence to a paragraph. --Jtir 22:08, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Author Interviews and Correspondence
editThese look like excellent sources, but they are not independently verifiable. WP requires verifiability. Transcripts or audio available online would be ideal. Citation in a published book would be totally acceptable. Another problem is that no dates or locations are given.
Note that WP does not have "authors".

culled the References section
editI culled the References section of most entries not cited in the article, leaving some that might be relevant. This article doesn't need so many references. --Jtir (talk) 17:47, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV
editI've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:
- This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
- There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
- It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 00:03, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
Lack of objectivity
editFollowing up on the first comment about neutrality. The text refers to "Pete" 6 or 7 times. Serious NPOV lapse. Also, there should be a follow-up to the rumor that he was killed while working undercover--whether true or false. If he was working for the government, he deserves recognition. (I'm having trouble with Wikipedia--cannot log on and sometimes cannot make text changes.)
