Let's set this straight:
María Gabriela de Faría was born in Caracas, Venezuela.
She doesn't claim to be Portuguese. In regards to her ancestry (which is not the same as nationality), she says: "I love it because I have a lot of mixed cultures, I have a Venezuelan family, but my family is also Colombian, it is deeply rooted there, and also Portuguese. It's very cool". source
Continuing with the second point, in this source: [1], she says that her family is from Portugal. Just so. She says that she's carrying portuguese values, but that in itself doesn't equal caling oneself "portuguese" or whatever.
Again, ancestry is not the same as nationality. She also says she has Colombian roots. That, however, doesn't mean she's native from that country.
