What madness is this?

edit

They are also the first Maseratis to feature a normally aspirated V8.

Excuse me? 5000GT? Ghibli? Bora? Mexico? Quattroporte I and III? Most of Maserati's GT cars between 1960 and 1980? Who wrote that of the 2002 Coupé and Spyder and what were they thinking/smoking? Respectfully, SamBlob (talk) 19:32, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

GrandSport LE?

edit

There is no such edition and the link directs only to normal GrandSport — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ybsone (talkcontribs) 10:23, 8 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

The numbers 3461 / 3600 lbs seems rather light for such a large car (178x72), and it appears they are. Attached is the door panel from a 2002 convertible and the manufacturers own dry weight numbers are total: 4410 lbs, front 2250, rear 2160. Please re-confirm and update page.

For the 4th and last time the official name is Maserati Spyder 90th Anniversary (not Cambiocorsa, not GranSport) YBSOne (talk) 08:30, 23 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

More evidence, just in case: La Maserati 2005Cloverleaf II (talk) 09:20, 23 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Very nice, and it also shows that the engine had "only" 390PS, because actual GranSport Spyder was introduced a year later in 2005. YBSOne (talk) 10:36, 23 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Cloverleaf II the brochure does say Cambiocorsa. Plus dealerships won't sell cars with fake names. U1 quattro TALK 19:52, 23 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

You are mistaking a vehicle version with vehicle model. it say the car has a Cambocorsa gearbox, not that the car is a Cambiocorsa... Dealerships have very little knowledge about what they sell. Some claim that Spyder 90th Anniversary is a GranSport even, and it's not. It does not matter how many half-baked sources You will post they are all wrong and opposite to official statement by Maserati. YBSOne (talk) 20:11, 23 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes dealerships will get stuff wrong, they are usually clueless about the cars they sell, especially multimake used car dealers, if you think they are a reliable source then I suppose BMW makes a lot of V6s. Toasted Meter (talk) 01:52, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Also U1Quattro you violated WP:3RR. Toasted Meter (talk) 01:56, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I posted sources in my defense unlike Ybsone. So guess who is violating rules, per the history, this user has been in a severe violation of Wikipedia:Etiquette and also in violation of the 3RR rule when he refused to settle the matters on a talk page in a civil way. I've had enough, next time I'd see him behaving like that, I would take matters to administration and I do have enough evidence of his erratic behaviour.U1 quattro TALK 03:48, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
And FYI Toasted Meter companies can also be wrong about things. An example would be Volkswagen stating wrong emission figures. There is a reason why manufacturer websites are not allowed as citations on Wikipedia in the presence of other sources like this editor has been constantly using and mulling about.U1 quattro TALK 04:15, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Car dealers are not reliable sources, manufacturers certainly are for the name of their cars. And emissions are an objective measurable thing, names are not, they are defined by the manufacturer. A primary source is entirely appropriate for a name. Toasted Meter (talk) 04:53, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Well, okay. Let's assume you're correct, then why are sources such as DuPont registry are used in automotive articles? They are car dealers. Also manufacturers also work closely with dealers to develop special editions of their cars. That is enough to warrant them as reliable sources of information.U1 quattro TALK 06:39, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
About Cambiocorsa, that is the name given to the electrohydraulic manual transmission equipped cars as all 90th Anniversary Spiders didn't came with this transmission as with the standard Cambiocorsa Spyder and the Automatica versions Mr.choppers your help is needed here.U1 quattro TALK 06:41, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

DuPont registry has a blog written by professionals and having editorial control, if you mean that some other pages on Wikipedia use DuPont registry sale listing as a source, that does not mean it's correct. And yes some dealers and distributors will do special editions, you can usually find secondary sources or a manufacturer press release talking about it, it says nothing about used car dealers being reliable sources.

Names are defined by those who do the naming, the manufacturer has the final word, and you have no proof that Maserati has ever called it "Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa 90th Anniversary" and you have been shown many sources that are decidedly reliable that that is not what Maserati calls it, three editors disagree with you, and your sources are used car dealers and a photo caption, why are you still fighting this?

You seem to be edit warring against a very clear consensus. And adding some questionable sources does not mean that you did not violate 3RR. Toasted Meter (talk) 07:25, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I checked and you are at 8 reverts of the same material in one day (Ybsone you are not doing much better at 7) you need to stop edit warring, you have been blocked once and it will happen again if you keep editing like this. Toasted Meter (talk) 07:32, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I will not yeild my position if it is correct, and I know that it is correct. I do not care if I will be blocked. All my reverts of others contributions were because I found them untrue. Most of reverts of my contributions were against factual information. YBSOne (talk) 09:27, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Well, he would get an indefinite block as well if I took this matter to the administration so he needs to be cautious in the future too, I don't disagree that I violated the revert rule but he has not been much short of being shady and rude and being in violation of the same rule as well as others.U1 quattro TALK 07:52, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I tagged the photographer so he could present his sources. I want to end this dispute and tagging him was the only option to do this.U1 quattro TALK 07:53, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Photographer is not a source. Contact Maserati: https://www.maserati.com/maserati/international/en/contact-us
Ask what is the name of limited edition Spyder and how many units were made.
As I said be inquisitive not repetitive YBSOne (talk) 09:05, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Let's see what the photographer to say as they'd take days to reply.U1 quattro TALK 09:32, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Why do You oppose to ask the primary source? YBSOne (talk) 09:47, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I did ask them and awaiting a response. Still I don't know what are you trying to say right now with all of these sources.U1 quattro TALK 10:47, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Let me spell it out. MADE UP NAMES YBSOne (talk) 13:03, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, you make the least sense now.U1 quattro TALK 13:06, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

So, I contacted Maserati Ybsone and as usual, no response from them even after a week. I knew it would be useless but I did that just to end this discussion. U1 quattro TALK 13:14, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

I already got my reply from Maserati Classiche U1Quattro. The dispute was long over with consensus being achieved. YBSOne (talk) 07:36, 8 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sorry Ybsone but the source you claim to have the record of your conversation doesn't exactly reveal much about this model at all.U1 quattro TALK 07:45, 8 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
It reveals exactly what was an object of this dispute, which is over as of now. YBSOne (talk) 08:41, 8 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
That is a personal blog which is highly unclear about the subject of this dispute. As of now I did get an email from Maserati and what they did was to send me the technical details of the Cambiocorsa gearbox instead of confirming about the name. U1 quattro TALK 12:42, 8 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
What You asked is what You got. Noone besides You is unclear or confused. Matter is closed. YBSOne (talk) 18:57, 8 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
