Examples and Impact

edit

Based on the given information in the article, the authors provided information that did not sufficiently provide examples that explained the problems in the article. By adding information into the “Male artists in hip hop”, audience is able to better understand the types of misogynistic words and phrases that are used in hip hop music. The lyrics written out for the audience to read intensifies the severity of this problem. In addition, providing examples about “Female artists in hip hop” contributes to the idea that misogyny can occur within female artists as well. Within the article, the previous authors have provided information about females contributing to the problem, which is why providing an example of Nicki Minaj's lyrics helps the audience understand the concept more.

There were many studies conducted that dealt with children listening to hip hop music which affected their mentality about women and how they should be treated. By understanding that children could grow up speaking and acting differently based on what they listen to in music, helps the audience understand that it can greatly change their life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Red2212 (talkcontribs) 18:20, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Female Hip-Hop Artist Against Misogyny & Youth Listeners [User:Azurimgalindo/sandbox]

edit

We decided to do a revision on a Wikipedia article over the “Misogyny in Rap Music”, and overall I felt the article is well informed and articulates the problem of how there is Misogyny in Rap music and provides examples such as lyrics which helps that argument of Rap music containing a large amount in Misogyny. But there were 2 issues we found that were present in the Wikipedia page. One being the lack of female examples who have combated misogyny and how they protested against that culture that is present in Rap Music in today’s world and in the past. Secondly, the other issue we found was the neutrality of the article. There tends to be a bias towards being against on the music genre of Rap. Examples such as the article only pointing out the negatives of Rap and how the music degrades women but doesn’t talk about female rappers who use their music as a way to empower women and promote feminism.
