Current "To Do" List:
Split the articles by generation, not year, because the staggered production dates (e.g. G7 was 1992-96 (Japan), 1994-99 (USA)) make a bit of a mess of a regular timeline.Get infoboxes for each generationGet photos for each infobox(done this, but can't access the PC where images are stored)- Improve content (in progress)

United States production
editWhy the Nissan Altima reference? Aside from its factual inaccuracy - the Altima IS exported to the Middle East - I don't see why it should be mentioned, but not other US-built Japanese competitors (e.g. Accord, Camry, etc). Galant SuperSaloon
editThe Mitsubishi Galant SuperSaloon (Super Saloon) is not mentioned in this article. I think it should be included, but I don't know enough about it to make a proper entry. In photos it looks similar to the regular Galant, but maybe a bit longer or bigger?. Some quick Google searches show that it was available in 1989 and 1993, and probably other years as well, in the Asia and Asia-Pacific regions, including New Zealand. --Kaze0010 22:30, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Corolla or Camry

Galant: 190.4 x 72.4 x 57.9 inches, 108.3 inch wheelbase, $20,300-27,000
Corolla: 178.3 x 66.9 x 58.5 inches, 102.4 inch wheelbase, $14,900-17,900
Camry: 189.2 x 70.7 x 58.7 inches, 107.1 inch wheelbase, $18,445-25,800
So clearly, the Corolla's way to small and cheap to be a competitor. Same holds true in European market, but you can look that up for yourself. Regards, DeLarge 17:06, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
"Similar" field in infobox
editPlease, stop entering similar cars in the "master" infobox at the top of the page. Cars like the Pontiac G6 do NOT compete with every generation of the Galant since 1969, so to put them there, instead of the appropriate generation infobox, is simply wrong. You might think about that for EVERY article which has a "master" box as well as generational ones... --DeLarge 22:53, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Class
editThe "compact" and "mid size" classes are American. And the only version of the Galant which was classified as mid size was the eighth generation (introduced in 1996 in Japan). All seven previous generations (available in the US until the introduction of the Illinois-built 8G in 1998) were compact cars. Disagree? Source Missing for 9th Generation being labeled Second Rate
editThe material on the 9th generation does not include a good reference. A source like Consumer Reports or a reputable auto magazine would solve the problem. The alternatives are the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord -- both are very conceptually similar. The piece needs a bit of improvement.--Jackkalpakian 19:02, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Galant Lambda
editI've removed the extra infobox and duplicated info again. The Mitsubishi Galant Lambda has its own article, and we provide a link to it from here. If you're going to fill this article with information already on that page, we might as well just make it a redirect to this page. It's either a version of this car and covered here, or it's a different car in it's own right and covered in its own article. Not both, as that's pointless duplication. There's no necessity to say the same thing twice. That's why all the info at Mitsubishi Galant FTO isn't also duplicated here. Equally, the Galant Sigma is here because it isn't anywhere else; if it had its own page the information here could be split out. However, the only Mitsubishi Sigma page is a pseudo-disambiguation page to redirect readers to the correct article. The Galant Lambda doesn't get special treatment.
Further, we don't use two infoboxes. Even if the car was covered in this page, we would simply add "2-door coupe" to the body style section of the existing infobox. That's why there aren't already two infoboxes (one for the sedan and one for the wagon).

- I think that is a good idea, and I am going to try to do that soon. But having some duplication does not hurt anything, especially if it provides more clarity.
- Like I said, the Galant Lambda IS a Galant, not a separate model. If anything, the two pages should be merged. Otherwise, it would make equal sense to remove most of the information about the Sigma and give it a separate page as well. But it already has it's own page too. If you're going to try and merge, make sure you at least use the {{mergeto}} and {{mergefrom}} templates, as this would obviously be a controversial move. An undiscussed move would be reverted. Also note that your statement about the Lambda not being a separate model conflicts with Mitsubishi Motors own documents. In their timeline of vehicle production they list the Galant/Sigma as a single car, but list the Lambda separately (see p.26 of "2005 Facts and Figures" on MMC's website). --DeLarge (talk) 11:48, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

2 door coupes are missing

- It's written right above you. Mitsubishi treats it as a separate car, and so do we. Mitsubishi Galant Lambda and Mitsbishi Galant FTO and Mitsubishi Galant GTO are all mentioned in the article, but have their own pages. --DeLarge (talk) 10:38, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Have deleted this from the entry:

Hardtop Myths
editThe first-generation Galant and Galant GTO two-door hardtops were Mitsubishi's first pillarless cars but they were not the first in Japan. The honor of offering "the unique stylistic feature of being the first Japanese production passenger car with full side windows and no side pillars" goes to the Toyota Corona 2-door hardtop first shown at the 1965 Tokyo Motor Show and placed on sale in Japan and the United States in calendar year 1966. So I have revised the text here and in the equally erroneous Mitsubishi Galant GTO page.
Initial 1969 Model
editI owned a 1969 model, one before the AII shown in the 1969 photo. The grill badge was a galloping horse with Colt printed underneath. Purchased new in Feb 1970 Papua New Guinea, imported directly from Japan. This model was only available in Japan. Later on, models for other markets had slightly different blinker and stop lights, in colors required by local laws.220.244.88.51 (talk) 11:04, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
