Some proposed changes

edit
Some factual updates have been made including citations and references. Factual updates include new areas of the Monocle business that have launched, but hadn't been updated on the page.

{{UserboxCOI |1= In September 2015, Monocle launched The Monocle Minute - a free daily email bulletin of news, opinions and opportunities for subscribers. |2= Monocle Retail |3= In October 2015, Monocle launched The Kioskafé - a magazine shop and coffee bar. Modelled on European city kiosks, it sells over 300 magazines ranging from art, design, fashion, culture and more. Situated outside London's Paddington station, the space was opened as a place devoted to great independent magazines with the number of independent newsagents in decline [25]. |4= In 2015, Monocle launched its first Quality of Life conference in Lisbon, followed by Vienna in April 2016. The Quality of Life Conference aims to bring together leading voices from the worlds of design, urbanism and culture[28] over three days situated in different cities annually.

Fair use rationale for Image:Monocle magazine November 2007.jpg

edit

Image:Monocle magazine November 2007.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Circulation

edit

Could we please add some circulation figures for this item.

17 February 2011

Four years after launch we today had a first ABC circulation figure for stylish current affairs monthly Monocle of 63,007.

Of these just over 10,700 were on the UK newsstand while 2,000 were from UK subscriptions. Some 9,700 of Monocle's total came from bulk copies and 41,981 of its paid-for sale was overseas. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.184.24.90 (talk) 16:15, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Lifestyle magazine?

edit

Am I the only one who thinks this is more of a serious international affairs magazine and less of a "lifestyle" magazine (where one would expect advice on successful dieting perhaps tips on losing weight) The name needs to be changed from Monocle (Lifestyle magazine) to Monocle (international affairs magazine), or simply Monocle (magazine). And the price for the magazine does not belong in the lede -A1candidate (talk) 23:35, 23 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I think "lifestyle magazine" is a euphemism for "guide-to-shopping magazine": what clothes to be wearing, which expensive hotels to stay at, how to justify to yourself possession of a car with a large engine, etc etc. Similar stuff makes up a large percentage of the advertising pages in the New Yorker, say, but not much of its editorial pages. I rarely look at Monocle, but when I do I'm struck by the way that so much of its (seemingly) editorial pages show me how to spend more of my money. I'd prefer "Monocle (shopping magazine)", but the current title seems a reasonable compromise. -- Hoary (talk) 01:51, 24 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Changing of Description

edit

Monocle propose changing the description from Monocle (lifestyle magazine) to Monocle (media company) as the brand now incorporates commerce, radio and television. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Monoclemag (talkcontribs) 08:58, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

A page-rename makes sense, and (media company) does seem to be an established naming convention. I'll wait for 24 hours, for other editors to chime in, before renaming. –Quiddity (talk) 16:58, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Support: The magazine in question has nothing to do with health and lifetstyle and shouldn't be labelled as such -A1candidate (talk) 18:06, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I agree, this is a media company, not a magazine. There is a separate page for the magazine somewhere although fairly sparse. -Arthurmingard (talk) 18:25, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Actually there is not a separate page for the magazine - the Monocle magazine is covered entirely here. (The hatnote at the top of the page, points to an article about a different magazine with the same title). –Quiddity (talk) 19:06, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Promo

edit

I would have removed a large content in the body because of its promotional tone, especially if you read the "Website" section. But I went here instead and propose that the website section, and other texts with a promotional language, be removed. Would that be possible? AmberBeer84 (talk) 09:04, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
