Why is the platform split level? Were the tracks at one stage used for both trams and Metro trains? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.142.70.214 (talk) 19:15, 24 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Configuration

edit

Because of the complicated nature of this station, we'll probably need a "Configuration" section. You've got Tram Line 81 coming from the west on the surface level, then premetro Tram Lines 7 & 25 on the north-south axis level -1; next a short tunneled section of Tram Lines 39 & 44 coming from the east on level -2; and then finally Metro Line 1 on the east-west axis on level -3. It may even be worth it for the tram lines to give their route according to the streets they traverse. I'm still struggling a bit whether we should list the Tram Line stops for 81 and 39 & 44 as connections, or if the latter should be included as a stop at Montgomery metro station since it's more integrated into it.

Also, is the above ground tramway along Terveuren & Brand Whitlock at the surface level on T39 & 44 only used to loop the tram? It's a bit confusing because there is a stop along Brand Whitlock named "Ichec" but it looks like it's only used for T81? My understanding of operations of T39 & 44 was that they only use their short tunnel to loop or reverse, so I'm not sure what the ground-level section of loop line is for. Maybe for maintanence to get a tram to a depot along T81?

Finally, the interactive STIB-MIVB Plan shows solid lines in between Montgomery and the Musee du Tram, but also show a dashed line from Montgomery to Tervuren (44) and Montgomery to Ban-Eik (39)? What does that mean? I'm afraid the legend on the map doesn't make that clear.

Can someone clarify all of this so we can update the article? --Criticalthinker (talk) 17:33, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
