Mutagenic Variatels
editShouldn't the heading of this section be changed to "Some Mutagenic Variatels" or "Major Mutagenic Variatels" or something similar? If there are over 3,200 registered and ...over 1,000 mutant varietals of major staple crops were being grown world wide..., surely the heading of this section has to show some reason why only a few are mentioned. - Or how about adding underneath the heading : "Please note that this list is by no means exhaustive"? SylviaStanley (talk) 11:43, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
"Mutagenic Varietals" is a horrible heading! It's inaccurate both in regard that, as SylviaStanley notes, it does not properly convey the fact that the list is not meant to be exhaustive and in the fact that the listed varieties are not mutagenic. The correct wording here is "mutagenized". "Mutagenic" means mutation inducing. 60
Co
is mutagenic. "Mutagenized" means the result of a mutagenic process. The plant varieties mentioned here have been mutagenized.

- Done This is a rather old discussion. I am inclined to agree with your terminology and reasoning, so I've made this WP:BOLD edit here. If you feel this still isn't clear or accurate enough, feel free to make any changes that are needed. Adrian[232] 17:27, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Another question. I am not much of a Wikipedia editor. At least so far, I do not have some specialized area of knowledge were I spend great amounts of time writing some articles and correcting others. If I see small things that are obviously wrong, I try to fix them (or at last make a note on the Talk section). As a result, I may not be as familiar with Wikipedia standard operating procedures as I should be. My question is whether there is a way to preserve a direct link to that category even if you only show the correct wording? I ask because I arrived here via a link to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutation_breeding#Mutagenic_varietals from an external site. It's not a big deal since a broken link will still go to the main article and the article is short enough that finding the list of example varieties is very easy but it would be good to know. - There's no easy answer to that. You could add an anchor with the old name as a temporary fix, but ideally one would have to go through each page that links here and check for section links. In my experience, someone often fixes the dead links as they come across them. (More info at WP:SPECIFICLINK). Adrian[232] 19:53, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
Unsourced claim(s)
editWhile the abundance and variation of transgenic organisms in human food systems, and their effect on agricultural biodiversity, ecosystem health and human health is somewhat well documented
No source given (may be in the references... but we're not expected to hunt down the ref ourselves, or are we? (Especially since a lot of the references are not accessible to the average reader). --jae (talk) 02:37, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
