Moving these here so I can keep track and make changes at once:

New Castle to Kent

  • Savin-Wilson House is in Kent County. (Based on the hundred, the coodsr and the streets.)
  • Mount Pleasant is in Kent County. (Hundred, coords and Street all use Smyrna address but south of Duck Creek.)

911 address

edit

Most of the rural NRHP listings in Delaware give a description of the location rather than the formal address, like 2 miles from town near a stream. This is because areas that had to drive into town to pick up mail didn't have a street address or a named street. (The intersections were sometimes named though, like Pearsons Corner or Cowgills Corner.) Some of the listings had a country road number but these were only used on deeds and never had road signs posted. In the 1990s, "911 addresses" were created to reduce volunteer fire companies response times and streets were named with signs posted and street numbers were assigned. So many (most?) of the Delaware listings have obsolete addresses.

In most cases, web sites mentioning the new addresses are neighborhood notices rather than reliable sources and my driving by and reading street signs is original research. Based on the map source guidelines, I'm going to use a Google Street View link showing the image of the building with the new address as the citation. If you have any questions/concerns, just tag me on my talk page so we can discuss. RevelationDirect (talk) 23:43, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
