Problems
editIt seems as if many non-notable musicians are using this article as a vehicle to promote themselves. In fact, most of the artists in this article seem to comprise of non-notable musicians. I'm going to to remove artists that don't appear to be notable. Also this article should only mention Native American hip-hop musicians, not hip-hop musicians who happen to be Native American. Bash Kash (talk) 20:01, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree, I coudlnt find any evidence of this paragraph so I removed it. It also sounded like promotion to me.
Lakota Rapper "Smoke" is the first Native American Hip-Hop Artist to break the top 10 charts internationally with his hit song "My Dubz" featuring Trae The Truth from the "Screwed Up Click". Currently on the RezHeadz 2010 Rezolution Tour, Smoke has traveled from rez to rez delivering a positive and very motivational presentation about the progression of our Native People. Helping the youth to understand they hold the key to a better future, and a brighter economy on the reservation. The Rezolution Tour has reached over 200 reservations in the year of 2009 to present day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.217.214.194 (talk) 13:26, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Why should this article "only mention Native American hip-hop musicians, not hip-hop musicians who happen to be Native American"? Hyacinth (talk) 01:40, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- Because the article is supposed to be about Native American hip hop.--Shantavira|feed me 13:30, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Native Hip Hop .net
editThe "Early Pioneering" section looks like advertisement to me, it could easily be summed into a short blurb next to the external link. Any agreements to deleting the section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.43.172.218 (talk) 16:12, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes I think it should be deleted. Instead, someone can do some research about some real native pioneers and write something up on them instead - such as melle mel and ernie and many others I m sure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.217.214.194 (talk) 13:32, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about Native hip hop knows that nativehiphop.net was the only site around for a long time. Junior Simpson spent a long time networking with artists back in the day before he went to school. Ask any of the 'notable' hip hop musicians to verify the old-days popularity of Nativehiphop.net. He's a buddy of mine and I can attest to the hours I spent helping him with the website.
- One or two had their own sites, but Jr Simpson spent countless hours giving people a voice and a place to put their material, and linking to other sites. Just look at archive.org. Then contact various people such as Litefoot, and Vino Sam (old creator of Red Nations website) and ask them their opinion of the significance of the website back in the day.
- I am going to restore the paragraph - I'll provide some links to the archived versions of the site for proof.

problems
editthis page was so bad I edited the first paragraph heavily. more can be done to improve it. I added the reference to ernie paniccioli, melle mel and funkdoobiest. Removed some irrelevent material and tried to give a fuller picture of what native hip hop is. more references would be nice if people can find some. especially of early hiphoppers claiming native heritage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.217.214.194 (talk) 18:28, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Apparently my additions were considered vandalism. Considering that this article is of very low quality and the revisions actually brought something to the table, so to speak, I find it unfortunate that these edits were removed without proper investigation. I think this was done since I m on a shared IP in a student center so perhaps other irrelevant edits were done on other pages. I think this article needs to be reverted to its version of May 13 in the morning including the removal of the promotional paragraph on Lakota Smoke. Thank you. 142.217.214.194 (talk) 13:41, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
picture
editit would be nice to have someone add a picture to this page. Ernie paniccioli, melle mel, or any recognizable and important figures in hip hop would be good - or just kids doing hip-hop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.217.214.194 (talk) 14:41, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
