Accessibility to space

edit

There's a statement in the lead "New Shepard allows Blue Origin to significantly reduce the cost of space tourism, making the experience more accessible to the general public" (also appears in Blue Origin.) There is some discussion of costs and ticket prices later in the article but no real support for this statement. This is a comparative statement so raises the questions: "reduced cost" and "more accessible" compared to what?

Later in the article we read that "Up to late June 2022 (after the fifth crewed flight Blue Origin NS-21), Blue Origin has generated more than $100 million from the New Shepard space tourism program." If all seats were filled with paying passengers that would be 30 tickets at an average of >US$3 million each.

Removed the intro statement after not being able to find a source. Xkxkz (talk) 06:42, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

There are actually two conflicting statements in the article, both "as of June 2022":

"New Shepard ticket sales brought in $50 million through June 2022." "As of June 2022, the company has generated more than $100M from the New Shepard space tourism program.[42]"

These could both be correct, implying $50M generated in non-ticket revenue, but that is a surprisingly high number and would be worth finding an explicit citation for. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.145.147.254 (talk) 17:17, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Landing Ellipses

edit

How much have the footprints shrunk over time? I'd like to include a couple for purposes of comparison on List of landing ellipses on extraterrestrial bodies. Thx. kencf0618 (talk) 03:19, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Mass is wrong

edit

75t (165000lb) weight with a 490kN (110000lbf) Engine? I doubt it honestly.

https://space.stackexchange.com/questions/33843/estimating-weight-of-new-shepard-with-ns-10-launch-data

here they estimate more like 75000lb not kg. Okksi (talk) 11:44, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

sections for capsules

edit

Each propulsion module tail has a section. I think it's time to add sections for each capsule, RSS Jules Verne, RSS H. G. Wells, RSS First Step, RSS Karman Line -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 23:15, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
