At least some (all?) trains from Carlisle now use the High Level Bridge instead? Eg http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/Y66194/2017/08/10/advanced.

Renaming

ProhibitOnions, in this edit, why did you write 'not supported by use of short form of name in "source"' - which 'short form' are you referring to?

The assertion was that the station's name was changed at some time after 1948, with the only source cited a book that's out of print. The station name wasn't changed - and if it had been, it should be easy enough to document when and why, since this is a major building and, indeed, the first "Central Station" in the world. Its name is still "Newcastle Central Station", or occasionally "Newcastle upon Tyne Central Station", just as it was in 1850; and, indeed, it can also be referred to simply as "Newcastle" because there aren't any other major stations in the city. But since the assertion I removed mentions "Newcastle on Tyne", the "renaming" could be a conflation with a growing general preference for "upon" as the preposition in Newcastle's full name (and thus a switch in preference from "Newcastle on Tyne Central Station" in the less common variant of the name). -ProhibitOnions ^(T) 18:17, 14 April 2018 (UTC)

A book going out of print does not make it any less of a reliable source. Copies still exist, in public libraries, second-hand book shops, on the table next to me, etc.

Of these abbreviations, "OP" is opened; "RN" is renamed to; "BR" is British Railways (Railway Executive); "RF" is renamed from. The Railway Executive, as a body, was created under the Transport Act 1947 on 1 January 1948 and wholly absorbed by its parent body, the British Transport Commission, on 1 October 1953. In Butt, events that took place between 1 October 1953 and 31 December 1962 are indicated with the abbreviation "BTC" (i.e. British Transport Commission); those taking place on or after 1 January 1963 as BRB (i.e. British Railways Board). 1961 fire

Platform 12

Two editors have now claimed multiple times that platform 12 is out of use. Yet, according to National Rail's station map, it is still very much in use. Please do not change the article without providing a reliable source WP:RS / WP:V. Forums and spotter sites are not acceptable WP:UGC / WP:SPS. Thanks. 10mmsocket (talk) 11:25, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

I have read reports on RailForums that the platform is indeed out of use and it wouldn't surprise me if national rail maps haven't been updated. It's just a case of finding a good source as you suggest. Garuda3 (talk) 12:17, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
