Change of leader

edit

Siddaramaiah is the present opposition leader in Karnataka, and hence his details need to be uploaded under the leader section. DK Shivakumar is presently the prisedent of the party, similarly where the president of JDS is not in leader's seat, but HD Kumaraswamy is present. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Souryadeep630 (talkcontribs) 09:57, 24 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the same item: what exactly is the definition of "leader"? DK Shivakumar is the head of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, and Siddaramaiah was leader of opposition of the last legislative assembly.
I think both their names are to be put in the Leader(s) section since both of them stated that they wished to be CM and that would be steering the party campaigns during the canvassing phase. C.S.Abishek (talk) 10:25, 15 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Clearly biased section

edit

"According to political analysts[who?], with Karnataka polls nearing, the political parties are raking up more and more social issues to keep its voters informed. This can been seen by choosing the communal tensions started by muslim radicals on hijab and interpreting it as burqa which met with such equal demands from right-wing Hindutva groups on hijab, halal, azan, boycott of Muslim-run shops. The congress has focused its campaign around communal issues and try to corner bjp, drawing stark criticism from the opposition Congress, which accused it of neglecting governance issues. While bjp leaders follow its agenda based on Modi magic. the leader, Annamalai given charge of BJP’s Karnataka Assembly poll campaign"

This edit by @Aroneasadas shows clear pro-BJP bias, as well as citing contradictory sources. RooinMahmood07 (talk) 07:21, 10 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

i already provided enough links. i can also accuse of you being anti India , pro terrorist. everyone do not have to follow your opinions and thoughts article was pro congress and anti India . i do not white wash any party if you read carefully you can understand that Aroneasadas (talk) 13:08, 16 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Dhruv edits: why Revert?13:37, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
There are many political parties contesting the election. All of them cannot be added. As per WP:RS and opinion polls, there are only 3 major contenders in the state. Candidates of only those 3 parties will be added. Dhruv edits (talk) 18:55, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Dhruv edits: solely the BJP, INC, and JDS parties? DO NOT IGNORE OTHER PARTIES OR INDEPENDENTS; ADD ALL CANDIDATES FOR COMPLETION. 220.158.159.96 (talk) 13:31, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
All possible information doesn't need to be added. Only candidates of parties that are major contenders of election as per WP:RS are added. See previous election articles. Dhruv edits (talk) 18:02, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Dhruv edits:complaining about just three parties? 220.158.159.54 (talk) 13:17, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Rohitsetthachok, Dhruv edits, and Ok123l:As an alternative, think about developing new articles like Draft:Janata Dal (Secular) candidates in 2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election, INC candidates in 2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election, Aam Aadmi Party candidates in 2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election. 220.158.158.122 (talk) 13:41, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
This is unnecessary. JD(S) candidates are already included in the article. Parties other that BJP, Congress and JDS are not major contenders as per WP:RS. Also these potential articles shouldn't be made since WP:SPLIT doesn't apply here. See WP:NOTEVERYTHING and WP:NOTDIRECTORY. Every possible information is not added to Wikipedia. Also see MOS:INDELECT for Indian election pages. Dhruv edits (talk) 14:08, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Not needed. Three major parties are there in Karnataka and rest are minor and are likely losing deposit in almost all constituencies. AAP and others is unimportant in Karnataka as of now and do not need to be added. Ok123l (talk) 11:26, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

What RfC? · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 18:32, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Pbsouthwood:The rfc is about "the candidates table should be adjusted to accommodate all party and independent candidates".

The candidates table should be adjusted as above to accommodate all party and independent candidates or not.? ```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.167.27.112 (talk) 13:36, 19 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Before using the {{rfc}} tag again, make sure that you have read, understood and acted upon these: WP:RFCST, WP:RFCBEFORE, WP:RFCNEUTRAL and WP:WRFC. In any case, policy RfCs do not belong on the talk page of an article - they should be on the talk page for the policy concerned, or at WP:VPP. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:33, 20 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Opinion polls

Why only 2 polls are listed? 103.89.235.181 (talk) 12:50, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

These two mentioned margin of error and sample size, which are necessary criteria for adding opinion polls of elections in Wikipedia. Ok123l (talk) 11:27, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Any particular reason we arent adding Melukote for INC and showing the party they are supporting? @Dhruv edits: — Preceding unsigned comment added by Repto79456 (talkcontribs)

Unreliable opinion polls

@Repto79456 Stop adding opinion polls that do not have sample size and error margin; these polls are not reliable per community consensus. See MOS:INDELECT. I would agree with the rules on the Jan Ki Baat opinion poll given that the sample size data was unavailable. However, the Zee News-Matrize poll had all the required details and it was sourced as well. Thank you! FlyJet777 (talk) 19:10, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@FlyJet777 There is no error % given in Zee poll, making it unreliable. It should be removed. Dhruv edits (talk) 20:21, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
What? The only opinion poll I had added myself was the South First-People's Pulse on 13 April thats it. There was a 4th opinion poll added were added by AS Sayyad and Alone 333336, the only thing I had updated was the graph thats it, I have no relation adding these opinion polls in the table. And when I was going through the history I realised they wernt fit and was going to revert them later but it had already been done by then. Repto79456 (talk) 14:53, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Key Battles Section deleted with bland reason

edit

I have created a section, with c a table having constituencies of spotlighted contestants of Chief Minister, Former Chief Ministers, Children of leaders and other aspects, which includes individuals from all the parties. This has been abruptly deleted by Alone 333336, where atleast discussion is expected and a little respect to the editor's effort. Hence I request you to revisit your opinion once again. You can also call for a poll, for more opinions in this matter. Thanks! MicroNibble (talk) 16:36, 24 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi @MicroNibble The table is based on original research and highly subjective with regard to what seats are key seats. It is also redundant since the same information is already included in the Candidates section. Also note that talk page discussions are based on consensus, not polling. Wrong information about support of JD(S)

edit

@Dhruv edits In Wikipedia, it is written that JD(S) is supporting CPI(M) candidate in Gulbarga Rural, Bagepalli and K. R. Puram constituencies; RPI candidate in Vijay Nagar, C. V. Raman Nagar and Mahadevapura constituencies; and INC candidate in Nanjangud constituency. But actually, RPI has not even fielded candidates in Vijay Nagar and Mahadevapura constituencies.[1] So, Vijaynagar and Mahadevapura should be removed from the note. We should not add wrong information to the article in the wait of SEC Karnataka releasing candidate list. Besides, ECI data is much reliable here. XYZ 250706 (talk) 04:46, 5 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@XYZ 250706 Full list of candidates is out at Karnataka CEO website. If candidates of CPIM or RPI for those constituencies are not named in that list, then note can be removed from that constituency. However, make sure to add the fact that no CPIM/RPI candidates are contesting from that constituency in the note itself. Dhruv edits (talk) 01:50, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have removed parties that are not individually mentioned in the party wise candidates list released by CEO Karnataka. The Kerala Story is not related to Karnataka election. Any campaigner can use it to slam other parties. But that does not make it related to this election. XYZ 250706 (talk) 17:39, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

'Results by Constituency' table

edit

Consensus was reached to use tabular format for 'results by constituency' table, where 'districts' are the first column in table, instead of being in rows (same as Candidates table). Sorting function (being an important element of the table) doesn't work when districts are added as rows, which is the reason for the shift to the new tabular format. Requesting someone to change it back to the format where districts are the first column in the table. Thanks. Dhruv edits (talk) 09:32, 15 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Result source

edit

Can the users who filled the result table please add a source? Something as important shouldn't remain unsourced. Aréat (talk) 21:05, 19 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Aréat (talk) This is a late reply, but since I added many results providing clarity here for posterity. The source is election commission and it is already added in the source and also as an external link. All results are taken from the official ECI portal. thanks!
