82 vs 83
editNot sure why somebody changed the headline under the image to say that's an 83. It's an 82. I in fact know this because the car is mine and that is what it says on the title. ... aa:talk 03:02, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
what?
editi removed this: " Even with these improvements, the 1982 Z-Series are known to have used lower-quality metals in the engine, transmission, turbo and wheels. This model should not be purchased for parts if it is running roughly, since the parts are cheaply-made zinc and will deteriorate quickly." because this information is silly and erroneous. Value on a 1979 280z
editIf anyone has any current value on a car like this I would appreciate any and all feedback. My brother in-law has one that he is trying to sell me for 3500. I think that price is a little steep considering the age and condition. Its not in bad shape. It needs a little TLC which then would make it more enjoyable. Please feel free to email me at typical12c@yahoo if there are any comments on this. Thanks for the help.
the car is worth what you are willing to pay for it. seriously though, wikipedia isn't the place to ask. check google and the NADA blue book. E racer1999 21:36, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- I bet you wish you had bought and kept that car..... would be worth a pretty penny now... 174.240.252.95 (talk) 02:56, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
Poorly Sourced "Rust" Assertion
editI removed the following addition to the article:
The 280ZX body had many rot issues stemming from gasket seals on the rear hatch, T-tops, and doors. <ref name="Rust">[http://books.google.com/books?id=HeMDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA160&lpg=PA160&dq=300zx+rust+magazine+article&source=bl&ots=4E4A_XgaUs&sig=LlhbVQkQA32XtjaFuSHi2t5fUIQ&hl=en&ei=v4iQTfnYHJGtgQeku-ysDQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CDMQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q&f=false], Rust issues.</ref>
The cited source (from Popular Mechanics, July 1984) mentions "rust" ONE time. In a quote, a "Massachusetts executive assistant" mentions, of his 280XZ, that he would "still be driving it except for rust". No mention of what rust, where or why. It makes no mention of "many rot issues", nor "rear hatch", nor "T-tops", nor "doors" rusting. This doesn't rise to the quality expected in Wikipedia. (I believe WP:V applies here, too.) — UncleBubba ( T @ C ) 23:05, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Name
edit"The Nissan 280ZX (also known as the Datsun 280ZX and Fairlady Z).." - so why is the article Nissan S130? Some kind of production code? It doesn't say. 87.113.75.42 (talk) 23:59, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right. Right to mention the omission, and right in that it's a production code. The reason for the article name is that the car was sold under several different names in different markets; this way the article name does not favor any particular name or country, while also differentiating the car from other generation Z cars. I have amended the introduction to reflect your concern. Cheers, ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 07:09, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Change of Name
editI know this has been raised previously, however the current article name of Nissan S31 does not comply with WP:COMMONNAME. I propose the article should be renamed, under this rule, as Nissan Fairlady Z (S31).Davidstewartharvey (talk) 10:33, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
