Typo/Diction issue?

edit

"On March 12, 2012 The NCAA Committee on Infractions stiffened the previously self-imposed sanctions including, inter alia, vacating participation in the '08 and '09 Bowl Games." I think "including" and "inter alia" mean the same thing, so that's redundant. Or am I missing something?

History

edit

So I've been adding a history section to the page over the past few days. I was wondering if someone at any point in time of reading this could upload some photos of old north carolina teams so they can be put in this page. I added two, one of lt and one of elizabeth II at a unc game. I'm not sure if they'll stay up, but we need more anyways. ThurstAsh13 (talk) 02:48, 26 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

conference affiliation

edit

There appears to be erroneous content re:

Per the 2016 Media Guide, pg 190 and throughout, the affiliations were:

These will be reflect in imminent edits, including to early season articles. UW Dawgs (talk) 00:17, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

@MisterCake: Your edit purports to support UNC football membership in SIAA from 1912–1921. The three included citations 1) do not mention year or football, 2) covers track, and 3) covers track, respectively.
This existing citation, pg 190 establishes no conference affiliation 1888-1921, and then SoCon begining in 1922. Your edits have therefore been reverted as they do not establish UNC football participation in the SIAA and contradict the existing citation. Per WP:BURDEN, please do no re-add disputed content without providing a valid citation. UW Dawgs (talk) 20:19, 21 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
It was for the SAIAA mate, and seemed a fine citation. Cake (talk) 20:23, 21 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome to produce a citation pairing UNC football (not track) with the conference(s). Those three citations did not. If you feel otherwise, suggest you quote the material here when providing the citation. UW Dawgs (talk) 21:14, 21 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hm, it seems UNC applied for SIAA membership in 1900. See here. Cake (talk) 01:56, 25 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
@MisterCake: The citation provided atop this section and in Sports-Reference support Ind and two conference affiliations as shown above, though SR differs on 1921 in particular. Your citations, including using Track membership to justify football membership changes, have therefore been reverted. We may continue to discover conflicting sourced and perhaps tag accordingly such as via Template:Contradict-inline. You're encouraged to link and quote the material which supports football membership, as your citations remain unclear. UW Dawgs (talk) 01:30, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Sports-reference is clueless on the SIAA though. They have nobody in it, and track meetings are the easiest way to find members, aside from lists in yearbooks right next to the football section. Cake (talk) 02:27, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Great. Look forward to discussing your citations when offered vs those that already have been clearly offered. UW Dawgs (talk) 03:56, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@MisterCake: This edit asserts 1901 UNC football membership in the SIAA. That may or may not be the case, but is contradicted by the existing citations which you left intact. Specifically, the new citation makes no mention of football and the edit has been reverted as unsourced. Per WP:BURDEN and WP:V, please do not re-add contested material without providing a citation from a WP:RS. UW Dawgs (talk) 06:59, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Pre-1902 SIAA will be difficult. A 1901 UNC yearbook might be nice. The newspaper sources at least show UNC withdrawing from the SIAA before and after 1901, and now a source lists them among 1901 members. Cake (talk) 07:14, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
