Not a "national academy" in ordinary sense?

edit

As far as I understand, notwithstanding its name, this academy is a more or less private undertaking. Due to the pecularities in Norse language politics, neither it, nor corresponding Nynorsk organisations, could be officially recognised as general national academies; or both would have to be, but the Nynorsk movement afaik haven't organised an 2academy".

Notwithstanding, especially the work with Norwegian dictionaries is of the kind that traditionally is undertaken by national academies of letters. I therefore tentatively include this in the category:National academies of arts and humanities, but with full understanding if someone else decides to exclude it.
