Merge
editI just noticed this page after I created the List of Auburn University people page. The alumni in that article are listed by graduation year, but this article divides the alumni into categories. Both are good ways to organize the alumni, so we should merge the info on this article to the new one. Besides, other universities use the "List of ... people" format in the title. -- I believe this is a page with people who have lived in Auburn and not people who necessarily attended or graduated from Auburn University. Jasgrider 17:51, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- Jasgrider is correct. There is a large degree of overlap between people who are associated with Auburn University and those who lived in Auburn, but they are not the same set. For example, Richard Myers has a degree from Auburn University but never lived in Auburn, while Frederick Chapman Robbins and Demarcus Ware lived in Auburn but have no association with the university. The two pages should remain unmerged, just as Notable Ann Arborites and List of University of Michigan alumni remain unmerged. --Lissoy 03:16, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well then, what a terrible mistake on my part! This article was listed in the [[Category:Lists of people by university in the United States]] category, so I automatically assumed that "Auburnite" meant a person affiliated with Auburn University. I think it's best if we remove the category to avoid confusion. What do you say? Thanks for the prompt response, by the way. BlueAg09 (Talk) 03:52, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- You're exactly right. I never noticed it was in the "people by university" category before. I've gone ahead and removed Notable Auburnites from that category. Good eye! --Lissoy 03:58, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Rename
editWould there be any opposition to renaming this article List of notable Auburnites? It seems it is a list, as stated in the first sentence, and I believe "List of..." is the standard MOS. - auburnpilot talk 01:19, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
