Restoration of erased talk

edit

Feel secure in skipping the following smaller-size talk content, which IMO deserves retention on this page, but (for nearly all editors, and even nearly all researchers of WP's history) deserves no further attention.

It ain't pretty, but the multiple instances of reversion are so complex that auditability of this talk page in practice requires that the content-adding, -revising, and -removing edits be retained in legible form. I'm reducing the point-size of the unedifying portions (i.e., those that do not advance the improvement of the article -- including this and the rest of the "curational" content that i am adding!)

   delete{{delete}}{{vod}}{{vfd}}— Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.106.89.178 (talk) 17:37, 15 February 2006‎ replaced by 159.83.182.126 22:25, :26, & :28 17 May 2008‎ & removed by Ultraexactzz 20:00, 11 June 2008‎.
And the diff for U...zz's edit shows that in removing, they summarized "Article is not currently, nor has it ever to my knowledge, been nominated for deletion. Please see also WP:AFD before nomination, if and when."

Yeah, the editor attempted to have the article deleted by placing the old vfd template on this talk page. Just housekeeping. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 13:52, 21 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

(Gangster?)

edit

Not a real 'gangster'. Prolly just some kid playing around.

Not a real gangster, eh? Tell that to the NTG Bloods and the New York City Police.
Is there a wikipedia rule for "if you don't know about it, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist?"

Lead 'graph

edit

Two days ago, a previously non-contributing IP removed the lead 'graph without any edit summary. One might speculate that they regard the content --

Omar Portee, aka O. G. Mack or Godfather Mack, was born in New York and was involved in creating the New York United Blood Nation.

-- as in some way inaccurate, and indeed when i examined the first reference, which does concern Omar Portee, his aliases, birthplace, and UBN affiliation seem unmentioned. In my mind, verification of the lead's content has not been adequately documented, even tho the second ref cited includes "East Coast Bloods sets were founded on Rikers Island in 1993 by Omar Portee (O.G. Mack) and Leonard McKenzie (O.G. Deadeye).", verifying 2 of the lead's 4 facts that remain unverified by the point where the refs start.
While i remain unconvinced that footnotes in the lead are undesirable (let alone unneeded until the first post-lead refs occur)

  1. there would be no justification for complete removal of the the lead, even if this were an article that could make any sense with its lead removed (sufficiently justification for my reversion of that removal), and
  2. i do not care to be the vanguard of the IMO needed effort to make it clear how we should implement verification for facts deserving mention only in the lead.

Nevertheless, the remaining lead facts turn out to be verified by pp. 73-74, Herbert C. Covey, Crips and Bloods: A Guide to an American Subculture, ABC-CLIO, 2015.
