The article/entry is NOT ACCURATE. Writers/readers should consult official US DOE publications for accurate information. ITTFNK (talk) 17:38, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Questionable Information

edit

The current article claims the OIC was created in 1977, but cites a source only saying the DoE itself was created in 1977, not this specific agency. Additionally, the cited source appears to detail proposals for what would become/could potentially replace the OIC, so it may originate from before the OIC's official creation. As far as I know, the only source claiming a 1977 foundation date for the OIC is the current article.

This reference states the OIC was created (via the merger of pre-existing agencies) in 2006.[1] It is supported by this one too, on page 23.[2]

The article also claims the OIC does not currently carry out counterintelligence functions, although this may be from the various proposals in the current source. The current OIC website says the OIC "is responsible for all intelligence and counterintelligence activities throughout the DOE complex,"[3] so I believe this claim to be either outdated or incorrect. Additionally, the Office of the National Counterintelligence Executive cited as helping perform DoE counterintelligence functions has since been folded into the NCSC. Additionally, the NNSA (also cited in the current article as helping perform DoE counterintelligence) does not seem to claim any counterintelligence functions (to the best of my knowledge), so I believe the article should be edited to reflect that:

1) As detailed in the first and second paragraphs, the OIC was not created in 1977, but instead in 2006.

2) As detailed in the third paragraph, the OIC currently carries out all DoE complex (presumably DoE and contractors/affiliates) intelligence and counterintelligence functions.

These are some fairly substantial revisions for this rather small page, so I would like some input before making them.TransientBovine (talk) 18:14, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Update: The previous note seems to have attracted no attention, so I have gone ahead and made the aforementioned changes. TransientBovine (talk) 21:28, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
