Greenbush Line
editThe Greenbush line article should not be merged with this page- while the lines overlap, so do the Needham Branch and the Providence/Stoughton Line and they have separate articles. The MBTA treats them as separate lines, with one page for the Old Colony Lines and another for Greenbush, in addition to having separate schedules. --71.124.173.134 (talk) 01:51, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

- With all the activity going on and planned for these lines, wouldn't it be advisable to SPLIT them back up into the individual lines, or is that asking too much of a giant "We need to be your only source" website that, when they combined the articles, also deleted a lot of relevant information on each one? Middleboro/Lakeville Proposed Service to Cape Cod (1997 Original Restoration Service)
editI found a report from the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization that states that service to/on Cape Cod was not proposed and was to be of little benefit: MBTA Old Colony Commuter Rail Service Restoration Transportation Impact Study
"During summer months from 1984 to 1988, a tourist railroad operation on the lines on Cape Cod included service to the Braintree Red Line terminal via Middleborough. In the first season, one inbound A.M. peak trip and one outbound P.M. peak trip were scheduled to allow commuting to Boston from points as far south as Buzzards Bay. A combination of infrequent service and slow travel times forced by deteriorated track resulted in very low ridership. (CTPS counts taken several times during the summer showed 25 or fewer riders per day each way.) This reaffirmed the conclusion that service without major track and station improvements and with a required transfer to the Red Line would be of little benefit." - Page C-8 Travis H. O. - @Pi.1415926535: Right, however this is in reference to the Cape Cod Service section where it says "Original plans for the reopening of the Middleborough/Lakeville Line in the 1990s called for service to Wareham or beyond; however, plans were scaled back, and, when the line reopened in 1997, service was restored only to Middleborough/Lakeville." where a citation is needed.
