The result of the move request was: Moved. Consensus for H instead of G per WP:UKR. (non-admin closure) SilverLocust (talk) 11:53, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
Oleksiy Gai → Oleksiy Hai – the person is Ukrainian as per the WP:Language discussion GrahamHardy (talk) 17:30, 2 May 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. EggRoll97 (talk) 19:50, 9 May 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. – MaterialWorks 20:02, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- This needs a formal RM discussion to reach consensus. The article was also at Oleksiy Hay briefly, and that spelling is used in the article. -2pou (talk) 18:20, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- @GrahamHardy: Queried move request. Note that I do not oppose this move; it just cannot be a technical request. -2pou (talk) 23:52, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
This is a contested technical request (permalink). 2pou (talk) 23:51, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose - Soccerway uses 'Oleksii Gai', NFT uses 'Oleksiy Hay', nominator has provided no sources to support a move. GiantSnowman 17:47, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
- Just had a look on the internet (-wiki):
- Oleksiy Gai - 7380
- Oleksiy Hai - 481
- Oleksiy Gay - 38400
- Oleksiy Hay - 580
So I think Gay looks to be prevalent...Any thoughts? GrahamHardy (talk) 13:22, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
- WP:UKR as spelling differs. Kaffet i halsen (talk) 08:43, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- Ukrainian is Гай, I'll try and work out what it should be (or someone else can!) Thanks GrahamHardy (talk) 15:09, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- Looking at Wikipedia:Romanization of Ukrainian/Ukrainian National transliteration table Г = H, й = i, So Гай = Hai... GrahamHardy (talk) 15:13, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- So should it be Hai as per the move? GrahamHardy (talk) 15:14, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- As I understand it, WP:UKR gives Oleksii Hai ([1]). Kaffet i halsen (talk) 18:13, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- So should it be Hai as per the move? GrahamHardy (talk) 15:14, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- Looking at Wikipedia:Romanization of Ukrainian/Ukrainian National transliteration table Г = H, й = i, So Гай = Hai... GrahamHardy (talk) 15:13, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

- Relisting comment: Relisting to get a clearer consensus on what name should be picked. – MaterialWorks 20:02, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. Russian language has no "H" and Ukrainian language has no "G". Since subject is indeed Ukrainian, his surname should be transliterated into English using the surname's Ukrainian form, rather than its Russian form. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 06:50, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
