The circumflex on the vowels in no IPA symbol. What does it represent? vowel quality or tones?

Ong Be languageBe language – "Ong" means 'person.' "Be" is the actual language name. "Ong Be" means Be people, so the preferred name is "Be." Sources: Liang (1997) and Norquest (p.c.). — Stevey7788 (talk) 06:39, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Support as this is the form used in the titles of most English-language sources in the bibliography at glottolog [1]. "Be" also seems preferable to glottolog's own term "Lingao", which is an exonym apparently confined to the Chinese literature. – Uanfala (talk) 08:54, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Name of the language

edit

What is the correct name of language? Be, Ong-Be or Lingao? Why some sources call it Ong Be if Ong means people? 87.6.242.83 (talk) 18:51, 4 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
