Moving this page?
editEvery source I've encountered, including the Japanese Prime Minister's Decoration Bureau's English-language sub-page, identifies this award in terms of a singular noun -- Order of the Sacred Treasure, not Order of the Sacred Treasures ...? If it would be perceived as an improvement, I would be willing to do the work involved in correcting this trivial error.
Is there is general agreement/disagreement with moving or re-naming this page from Order of the Sacred Treasures to Order of the Sacred Treasure? Perhaps the current spelling re-direct is really all that's needed. --Ooperhoofd 18:28, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Status: pending needed support/citation?

The following names are questionable. Supporting reference citations were not found in a superficial Google search. Any or all can be promptly restored when a verified relationship to this honor is posted:

Status: notability?
editDoes it make sense to limit new additions to this list excluding those with plainly valid citation support, like Smith below?
Sir Edmund Charles Wyldbore Smith (1877-1938)<:ref>London Gazette, p. 10197. 22 October 1920; Peerage: Edmund Charles Wyldbore Smith, ID #32180.</ref>RESTORED
Is it appropriate at this stage of the article's development to initiate a standard limiting names on this select list to
- (a) those who already have Wikipedia articles
- and
- (b) those who are notable for something other than being honored with this Imperial decoration -- see, e.g., US Navy Cross edit history?
This diff is a first step in seeking consensus opinion. Tenmei 18:36, 2 April 2009 --Tenmei (talk) 14:20, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
In a context informed by practices which seem to have worked out well at Navy Cross, all new additions who aren't already featured in an article are re-redirected to this talk page section with the following edit history explanation:
- people listed here must have articles on Wikipedia and be notable for something other than receiving this Japanese honor -- see "Status: Notability" on talk page
The names of those recipients whose award is confirmed by a reliable source, but who do not have an article yet are listed below:
|
|
|
- Class unknown
|
|
The names of those with neither confirmation by a reliable source nor an article are listed below:

In due course, perhaps all or most of these can be restored to the article. --Tenmei (talk) 18:14, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

- Is it appropriate at this stage of the article's development to initiate a standard limiting names on this select list to (a) those who already have Wikipedia articles and (b) those whose award of this Japanese honor is also verified by a reliable source citation -- Yes, every person included should both have an article and have a disinterested, reliable source for the claim of an award. -- Hoary (talk)
- No. The article is about the award itself, not the people who have received it. Any list should include any recipient of the award, whether or not they have a wiki page. That they do not have a wiki page does not get away from the fact that they received the award. It should always be so. I have been caught out by this in the past. I added a name to a list, only to have it removed because the individual did not have an English Wikipedia page (they had one in another language, which I HAD linked to). We have to get away from this sort of thing.--Samesawed (talk) 10:24, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
