Otto's Spouse

edit

Anyone have any insight into Otto's wife? This page says she was Hathui, a daughter of a Duke of Austria, but his son Henry's page says his mother is, sorry, was Hedwiga, a descendent of Charlemange. Was Hedwiga Otto's mistress, though that's not so likely, i suppose, if she were of "royal" blood. I've questioned this on Henry's talk page too, since it's the same question for him. Hedwiga, daughter of of emperor Arnulf and therefor descendant of Charlemagne, can't easily be the mother of Henry the fowler: Arnulf was born about 850, and his supposed grandson Henry the fowler was born 876. This would mean that Arnulf had Hedwiga at 13, and she had Henry at 13 too. According to Stammtafeln, Hedwiga was the daughter of Henry, Margrave of Mark. Nachoseli 14:12, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hathui and Hedwig(e/a) are the same person, the former being a Latinisation of the latter, Germanic name. From what I can tell, she was a daughter of the Babenberg Henry of Franconia and not of the Emperor Arnulf. I am not aware of Arnulf having a daughter named Hedwige. I am also not aware that the Babenbergs were of royal stock. Srnec 15:00, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
