Can you save recorded shows to PSP, USB, PC
editCan you access you saved shows on other devices, or are the recorded shows stuck inside the PSX??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.158.74.178 (talk) 02:53, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
PS1 and CD's
editIt says it can play ps1 games so shouldn't it say under media CD-R etc... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.104.195.168 (talk) 21:03, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Why isn't it merged?
editWhy isn't this article merged with PlayStation? --Boco XLVII 08:14, 9 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Because PSX is a complete system with large interesting resources.
- Not to mention the PSX is actually based on the PlayStation 2, rather than its predecessor.(Myscrnnm 18:36, 10 June 2007 (UTC))
- Problem is that there are two PSX. First is alternative name for PS1 (PSX shortage was use in earlier promotion material for PS1 and stay in this way in common usage), and other is that thing from article.. as I presume Sony try use unofficial shortage for PS1 as a some kind of promotion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.58.21.145 (talk) 08:25, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

PS2 Games
editI would say that the page doesn't make clear that it plays PS2 games. It says it plays PS1 games, and PS2 games compatible with the HDD, but it doesn't clearly say just PS2 games. --DK 21:56, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
The whole section about Internet seems to be incorrect - as far as I can see it can only use the Internet to download software upgrades, or access servers for online games. There is no web browser, no email, etc. --Evan 14:41, 6 April 2006 (Japan time)
Origins of the PSX nickname
editIs there a reliable definitive source for the origins of the PSX nickname? I've heard the SNES+Sony Playstation-Experimental story before, but it sounds like rumor and original research. --Akadewboy 03:48, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- The one regarding the Play Station Experimental was back from the days of the SNES, when Nintendo wanted Sony to develop a CD playing device as an add-on to the SNES. This later became the PlayStation when Nintendo screwed Sony over. However, the REAL PSX gets its name from the PlayStation.(Myscrnnm 18:38, 10 June 2007 (UTC))
- It's the Playstation Crossover, which is why XMB is called the Cross Media Bar

- I may be wrong, but according to the History Of Playstation episode from G4 (which is on youtube) the name of the playstation in the development stage was Play Station X. Derived from the project with Nintendo, but Sony had dropped the X and the space between the Y & S when releasing the console.
- I'd think the PSX name would be 'inspired' by the Play Station X name.(88.159.82.132 (talk) 00:26, 8 October 2009 (UTC))
- What I do know (from personal experience back in the day) is that "PSX" was all over the original PlayStation developer tools - the platform tools for the PlayStation were in a directory called "PSX", the 'C' compiler was called "CCPSX", the assemblers were "ASPSX" and "ASMPSX", and the console driver for the DTL-H2000 was called "PSXCONS". On top of this, if there is no SYSTEM.CNF file on a PlayStation CD then the default boot file is "PSX.EXE", and the first 8 bytes of any PlayStation executable are "PS-X EXE". Clearly there were people in SCEI working on the devtools who considered "PSX" to be the name of the system. 192.253.253.46 (talk)
Picture needed of system
editI think there needs to be a picture of the actual system, not just the interface. Is there one available to be posted? (cfpresley143.158.254.228 15:10, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
I found one, but I don't know how to upload it myself. The PSX picture has the "creamy white" (or whatever) controller, the system itself, and a "creamy white" PS2 remote. (rct2guy (talk) 01:12, 30 November 2007 (UTC))
Fair use rationale for Image:Sonypsx.jpg
editImage:Sonypsx.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

"at this time"?
editIs that really necessary. There is no hope for this product being released in any other country, the way that quote is worded implies that there is.- I suggest merging the quote or removing the "at this time" in general. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.185.116.54 (talk) 14:26, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Question
editIs the PSX multi-region? I really must know because I am interested in getting one. I do not wanna waste $500 on something that cannot play my DVDs.--124.149.87.182 (talk) 07:44, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- No, it's locked. But a modchip can be installed unlocking regions. --201.79.232.9 (talk) 12:28, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Price
edit600 yens - really? It is only 7,60 $ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.109.205.76 (talk) 13:20, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
PSX version numbers?
editI found a heap of info, so have been going through tweaking this page, but one thing I can't figure out. If you take a look at this image, you can see '05' under the region code. I thought this was a version number, but it doesn't start at 1. Below are the ones I found:
- DESR-5000 = 03, DESR-5100 = 04, DESR-5500 = 04, DESR-5700 = 05, DESR-7000 = 03, DESR-7100 = 04, DESR-7500 = 04, DESR-7700 = 05. JaffaCakeLover (talk) 19:28, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Reliability
editIs worth mentioning that the PSX is notoriously unreliable? Cause I have heard from pretty much ever single collector who owns it that it is extremely unreliable and that repairs are dead near impossible. NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 01:04, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
