Here's a question: is the amount of Lost Souls a PE can spit actually endless? I seem to remember that they're limited to 20 in the original game (or maybe 20 that are alive at the same time?). In any case, this should be cleared up. -- Schnee (cheeks clone) 30 June 2005 15:31 (UTC)
I agree, I think either each PE can only spit out X LSs, or every level can only contain Y LSs in total. I think I read the latter was the case on a Doom fan site actually, although I don't remember the exact number. Also the mention of the PS bug isn't PS-only; at least I'm sure earlier versions of Doom on the PC had LSs get spit out outside of the actual level. Maybe this got fixed with later versions? --Retodon8 07:34, 12 August 2005 (UTC)
The original Doom II game was limited in the total number of Lost Souls that could appear in a single level (can't remember that number too). When the number was reached, Pain Elementals couldn't spawn anymore Lost Souls. The bug where Lost Souls could be spawned outside the level (through its walls) was present in all Doom II versions, both PC and PSX. It was fixed in some of the later Doom engine ports (e.g. ZDoom).
