Name Change
editArticle about all other train station in Auckland follow the convention of 'Train Station' following the name of the station, therefore I don't agree with the change of name. If a change of convention to 'Railway Station' is desired, this should be discussed first with the community. If such a change is accepted then we can all work to change all train station articles to follow the new convention. The reason why I originally created the articles using the word 'Train' is because thats the common usage in Auckland City. Furthermore the Auckland Regional Transport Authority use the term 'Train Station' instead of 'Railway Station'. James Pole 09:11, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- The change has affected some complex templates which are dependant upon the names being consistent. Worldwide the agreed standard is "X railway station" (note the capitals), Auckland and previously Wellington used "X Train Station" but recently the Wellington moved to "X Railway Station" (note capitals). I can change the templates to reflect whatever the consensus is to have one or the other but i just need to know ;). Thus I've moved it back pending a consensus. Pickle 21:07, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- The accepted standard is "x Railway Station" for all locations outside Auckland. As the official name of Auckland's stations is "x Train Station", that's what we use. See the NZR Manual of Style, which I'm going to move to the NZR WikiProject as soon as I figure out how! (Is moving a user subpage to a project subpage as easy as moving a regular page?) - Axver 02:18, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- The only thing i was really getting at (other than be consistent whatever happens) was your choice of capitalisation is out of sync with the rest of the world. As for moving a page, I've never tried but worst case just copy and past. Pickle 13:16, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, nowhere else capitalises? I'm honestly not fussed whether we do or don't. As all the existing pages are capitalised and I see no tangible benefits from moving them all, I figure that no change is necessary. That said, if someone else feels like doing all the work to bring our stations into line with the rest of the world, I wouldn't object! - Axver 13:46, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
